MERGING OF "DINI AVAZ" AND "PARSI PUKAR" UNDER THE NAME: "PARSI AVAZ" Melody of Ilm-e-Khshnoom, the Mysticism of Zarthoshti Din What is Mysticism? It means the Divine knowledge, the subject matter of which is the spiritual Science lying beyond the world of our experience. We, the normal non-saintly humans have a few mind tools to experience, that is, to become conscious of the world around us. The tools are: five senses connected with a brain of many wires and circuits; a thinking process we call logic, reasoning, common sense and its complicated branch called mathematics. For thousands of years, the human beings believed in a Creator God and the existence of the mystical, spiritual and unknowable forces in-what is called - NATURE. God's prophets declared that He is unknowable even unthinkable, and that His creation, the universe, is wrapped in a Mystery, the human can unveil only by walking on his prescribed paths called Religions. But somewhere in the 17th Century, the Western Scientific thinking planted the seed of atheism in the human psyche; the tree grew fast. By the end of the 19th century the Western thinking pervaded in almost all humanity. God and Mysticism were buried and on their grave a fine fortress of polished ignorance was built. Religions were made to go underground as superstitions. As the 20th century started flowing, the egoistic confidence of modern science began to melt. Old theories were replaced by new ones, which too were shaking. It is a fascinating story, spread over a century, of how an increase in scientific knowledge resulted in an increase in ignorance. After all, it was not at all easy to lift up the veil of secrecy covering the mother Nature. In short, science started knocking the door of Mysticism. In the lure of "intellectual supremacy", the humans on this globe closed their eyes to the glowing truth that all Religions were divine sciences going high above the babbles of modern science. Every Religion has its own Mysticism. Judaism has Kaballah; Islam, Sufism; Hindu, various

Yogas; Christian, Gnosticism and Rosicrucians. The Parsi Zarthoshti religion has Ilm-e- Khshnoom. The story of how that age-old Mysticism was revived in the first decade of the 20th century, through Baheramshah Shroff of Surat, has been told very often. He had the miraculous fortune of coming in contact with Zarthoshti Ashavans - highly advanced Holy Souls, residing in certain secret and sacred place in Iran. They taught him a little (as he said) of that Mystical Science of Zarthoshti Din. In or about 1905 he presented the treasure of Khshnoom to the Parsi community. A cluster of Parsi disciples and adherents gathered around him. They exerted hard to take Ilm-e-Khshnoom to the common Parsis. Dr. Framroze Chiniwalla (by vocation an ophthalmic surgeon) wrote numerous books to lay down and elaborate the spiritual, mystical and devotional phases of Zarthoshti Din. A series of magazines were published for the propagation of Ilm-e-Khshnoom, starting with "Frashogard" (1911 to 1942), a three monthly magazine, founded by Ervad Phiroz Masani, a disciple in chief of Baheramshah Shroff and an erudite scholar of oriental studies in Avesta, Pahalvi, Pazend. This was followed by "PARSI AVAZ" weekly (July 1947 to June 1974) propagated by Jehangir Chiniwala, another chief disciple of Baheramshah Shroff. Both Frashogard and Parsi Avaz closed on the death of their respective founders. In 1976, this your humble servant, K. N. Dastoor started Dini Avaz, which was later taken over by Cursetji Patel. It continues till to-day although Cursetji died on 11-9-2002. In 1995, another Magazine Parsi Pukar was floated. These two go on till to-day, hand in hand, as the organs of Ilm-e-Khshnoom in India. Silloo Mehta publishes "Mazdayasni Connection" from US since 27 years - free even in postage! * * * * * In the present days, it is becoming more and more difficult to continue the two magazines. Cost factor and editing are the main hurdles, in addition to various other circumstances. We, the organisers, have therefore decided to merge the two viz. Dini Avaz and Parsi Pukar into one. We have given it the name "Parsi Avaz". This will be a small child of the original Parsi Avaz weekly. It will surely receive the blessing of Chiniwalla brothers. As is my life long experience, the Abeds, who gifted Baheramshah Shroff to

our community, will guide us to publish here such articles and features which will enlighten you, my dear reader, and guide you in your journey towards Ahura, every moment of your life. - KND (PARSI AVAZ Vol. 1; No.1 - Oct.-Nov-Dec. 2008 2 nd and 3 rd cover)
