Renovation Church Rwanda Trip Application June 8 th 18 th, 2018 Thank you for your interest in our Rwanda missions trip! We pray that you will come with us to help share the gospel with the people of Rwanda. In Rwanda, we will be working with international evangelist Sammy Wanyonyi, his team of SHINE ministry, and African Evangelistic Enterprise. We will get to a be a part of their team as they put on week-long events to reach people for Christ in Kigali, Rwanda. The main focus of this mission trip is to share the Gospel with as many Rwandans as possible. Each day we are in Rwanda our team will head into public schools to do a short skit, share our testimonies, and give a Gospel presentation. We literally get to present to HUNDREDS of students throughout the week of who Jesus is which is some of the greatest mission opportunity there is to share the Gospel! During the afternoons we work with local churches at public events where hundreds of community members will gather to hear local choirs sing and our team give a Gospel presentation. At these sites, you will have the awesome privilege of sharing your testimony (which we will train you to do!) in front of many, many people who don t know Jesus. SHINE will be hosting large festivals throughout the week where thousands of Rwandans will come to hear Sammy preach the Gospel message. Our team will be available to help at these festivals with praying for people who accept Jesus as their Savior and seeing God do an amazing work in this country! In summary, if you go on this trip, you ll have an opportunity to work with children, share your testimony, and get to witness thousands of people coming to faith at one time (in part because of YOUR testimony)! It s an AMAZING experience! Eleven days in Africa is a LIFE-CHANGING experience, but we do want to let you know that this is not an entry-level missions trip. There will be times when you will be asked to share your testimony in front of hundreds of people, and on this trip, events in the schedule can change very quickly. We also want to make it clear that the main opportunities for our team will be sharing our testimony, and teaching children or adults more about God. If your passion is to serve through something like construction work, the Haiti trip may be a better fit for your skills/passions.
We will be having a Rwanda interest meeting at 10:35am 11:00am on Sunday, December 17 th in the brown pod. This is a quick meeting for you to be able to hear more information about the trip and ask any questions you may have. If you are interested in applying, please return the following materials by SUNDAY, JANUARY 7 th. q q q Completed Application Photocopy of the first page of your passport (if you have it already; if not that s OK) $200 non-refundable deposit (make checks out to SHINE) When you have completed your application, please hand it in on a Sunday morning at the info table in the hallway. The total cost of the trip (including airfare) will is $5,000. HOWEVER, Renovation Church is going to supplement the trip costs by donating $7,500 to be divided between the trip team members so each team member will most likely have a $500-$1000 discount on their trip (depending on how many team members end up going on this trip). Close to $2,500 of the entire trip cost is airfare. With the exception of South Africa and Egypt, there aren t a lot of major airports in Africa, so flights to Africa are quite expensive. To help you fundraise some (or all!) of the costs, we will provide you with training on how to write support letters, give you sample letters, provide suggestions for who to write, and more. We will also be suggesting to you other creative ways you could raise money for your trip. Even at $5,000, it is still possible to fundraise all of your trip costs if you put a lot of effort into letter writing. Even if you were able to raise half of it, that s a very reasonable price to pay for a 11 -day missions trip to Africa! When we went on our trip two years ago, everyone on the trip raised at least half of their funds, and some only had to a pay a few hundred dollars for the entire trip! Many people have gone on this trip before and raised ALL of the funds, so they essentially went to Africa for free! WANT TO GO ON A SAFARI WHILE YOU ARE ALREADY IN AFRICA? For only an extra $1,000, you can a couple days to your trip and visit a world class Safari in Kenya! Instead of returning on the 18th, you would return on the 21st. If you are interested in going on a Safari while in Africa, please make a note on your application. If enough people are interested, we will make it happen for those who want to go!
