It is very popular and many of us recite it on a daily basis or at least on Friday. At Selvavinayakar Kovil every third Sunday of the month Lalitha Sahastra Nama parayanam being recited with special Puja to Godess Lalithambikai.HASQ encourages to all of our devotees to come and participate on this great Goddess Lalithambikai worship. Significance and Importance of Varalakshmi Vratam Varalakshmi vratam happens to be a sacred day for the Hindus. Popularly known as Varalakshmi Virata. It is performed by married Hindu ladies on Friday before the full moon day during the month of Sravana(August). Varalakshmi Puja Viratham is an important puja dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi the Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity. Devotees who observed this Puja get Blessed by Goddess Luxmi and get all the wealth for their family. The Vratham is performed more in the Southern part of Indian states such as Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu and also in some parts of Orissa and Maharashtra. Brisbane Selvavinayakar (Ganesha) Temple encourage devotees to participate on monthly devotional bajans. Bajans are held on the last Friday of each month with religious talk by Smt;Sujatha Vasudevan after the evening Puja at 7.30pm. Devotees of Lord Ganesha consider the viratam as highly auspicious and effective in overcoming obstacles and problems. On Sankatakara Chathurthi Day Special Puja for Lord vinayakar will be performed with the Regular Puja.

Lord Murugan is the second child of Lord Shiva and Lord Parvathi.. As Lord Murugan was brought up by Karthikai Virgins he got the special name Karthikeyan. Devotees observe fasting on Adi Kiruthikai(Karthikai)day have the blessing of Lord Shiva and gets Moksha stage after their life.lord Shiva gave this boon to Karthikai Virgins according to Skantha Puranam Hindu Tamil literature.. Lord Murugan devotees celebrate this day with fasting and Pal Kudam (Milk Pot) with Kavadi prayer in most of the Murugan Temples around the world
