Mother Doris Knight Reinhardt was born on March 30, 1927 to the late Amanda Sinclair and Charles Knight in Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies. Mother Reinhardt attended the Snowden School in Manchester, Jamaica and became a member of the neighborhood AME Zion Church in Moores, Clarendon, Jamaica. In 1966 Mother Reinhardt migrated to the United States where she resided in Paterson, NJ. She became a member of Canaan Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Gadson L. Graham, Sr.. For the next ten years she served on the Busy Bees Committee doing all that needed to be done around the church and in the neighborhood. She had a calling, on her life, and was lead to the Greater Bethel Church of Christ, serving under the leadership of the late Bishop Herbert Frazier. She was baptized in the name of Jesus and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. A faithful member on the Missionary Board, she taught the women of Greater Bethel, including her own children and grandchildren, the way of the Lord. She worked diligently with the Women s Council Department, traveling all over the United States to attend meetings and bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to cities nationwide. Finding what her hands could do, she worked with the Willing Workers Auxiliaries. She faithfully attended the Tuesday Morning Prayer Band with the other Mothers of Zion, visiting to the homes of the sick and shut-in to sing songs of praise and encourage the weary soul. As a member of the Senior Choir, she enjoyed singing hymns and helped lead praise and worship services with the
Missionaries For the last few years she continued to serve faithful until her illness in 2013. After migrating to the United States, she became employed with Dr. Samuel Shapiro in Leonia, NJ where she provided domestic child care for the family. She became a life long friend to the family after her employment, often returning to attend family functions. Mother Reinhardt later found employment at the Preakness Healthcare Center in Wayne, NJ, enjoying 27 years of service, and retiring in 2002. Mother Doris Knight Reinhardt was peacefully carried home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 23, 2014 while in the residence of her daughter, Rowena Ellis. She was preceded in death by her parents Amanda Sinclair Knight and Charles Knight; her sister and brother-in-law Gwendolyn and William Hynes; two brothers, Wilfred Knight and James Knight, her daughter Gloria Mae Manradge; and her granddaughter Annette Boddy.
