WALKTALK Chattanooga - LaFayette Emmaus & Chrysalis Chattanooga - LaFayette Emmaus & Chrysalis January 2015 April 2015 A NOTE FROM OUR LAY DIRECTOR... Meet our new Lay Director; Pa2 Harris. Pa2 was a pilgrim on Women s Walk #3 in March 1991. Pa2 has been married to Don Harris for 31 years and they have two daughters, Amanda 24 and Allison 20. She also has two cats- Mo and Duckie. Overcoming Obstacles There are two talks on the Walk to Emmaus entitled Obstacles to Grace and Perseverance. The themes of those talks could not be more appropriate looking back on the recent Men s Walk # 53. Let me first of all congratulate the entire Chattanooga-LaFayette Emmaus & Chrysalis Community for its own incredible display of God s love and being the Body of Christ throughout the Walk. Your support through prayers and presence was a testimony that spoke volumes to the Pilgrims. While listening to the men s incredible testimonies during Closing, I was reminded of how many Obstacles had to be overcome and how much Perseverance was displayed throughout the Walk. The words of James 1:12 could not be more appropriate: Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. I don t know if everyone fully grasps how much Satan worked 1] tirelessly to interfere with the Walk, but thanks to a Community of prayers God was faithful.

t The Team missed two regularly scheduled meetings because of weather issues, which forced delays in talks previews and curtailed team bonding opportunities. t There were several late Team changes due to conflicting commitment schedules. t The Walk was nearly postponed due to an inadequate amount of Pilgrims, but the Community came through with enough sponsorships just before the deadline. t Two Pilgrims had to drop off at the last minute, leaving two tables one participant shy. t The day before Sendoff, a mudslide closed Nick-A-Jack Road, which is the main access to Camp Lookout. It forced longer drives for just about everyone coming up the mountain. t Just minutes before Sendoff began, Lay Director Robby Dunn became mysteriously ill, but Board Representative Dr. Mark Kapperman stepped in like a professional. The next morning, Robby was feeling fine and able to lead the rest of the weekend. t Incredibly dense fog two mornings and one evening made traveling to and from Camp Lookout very nervewracking. t A misty rain during Candlelight threatened to put a damper on the evening, but not 1 candle was extinguished by the constant rain. The women s walk is just around the corner, April 16-19. My prayer is that the same outpouring of love will be displayed to the women that was shown to the men. We give praise to God and to this wonderful community for your support! We have a full walk and several on the waiting list for the upcoming women s walk. See you on the mountain! Opportunities to serve: Attending send-off Helping in the kitchen Making Agape gifts Prayer Vigil Attending Candlelight Attending Closing! Love You With the Love of the Lord! Pa2 Harris Thank You!! Thanks to everyone who provided agape for the recent Men s walk! Please keep the women in mind, their walk is coming up fast (April 16-19 th ). WELCOME PILGRIMS FROM MEN S WALK #53!
