A form with detailed instructions be given in class. The form includes a section for your parent to sign when you finish the project. Extra Credit Each quarter you may earn extra-credit points by doing additional Bible listening: Matthew during the first quarter and Luke during the second. The listening project form includes a section to report the extra listening. So you will be absent? Pay close attention to the assignment sheet when you are absent. The next time you come to class you should bring all your homework that was due when you were absent and anything that is due the day you return. Worksheets are available on the website. Have your parents contact the teacher if you need an exception (like if you were sick or got accidentally locked on an elevator for the entire weekend!). Quizzes/Tests: Make-up quizzes and tests will be at the middle-school office for you to complete right away. Tests Preparing for tests begins in class. Listen carefully, and think about the concepts given. Review the following: Bible verses: The tests will include the verses for their corresponding unit. Bible reading facts: Recall the facts of each gospel story covered in class (who, what, where, how, etc.). Know the Bible chapters where each story is found. The stories covered are listed on the class notes and the homework sheets. Class lessons: o Review the lesson outlines given in class and explain in your own words details of the outlines. o Study any special terms given. o Know the geographical location of places discussed in the lessons. Tests include a variety of question types (multiple-choice, fill-in-the blank, short answer, etc.). Each is worth about 50 points (about 1/4 of your overall grade). Verses Use the King James Version for memorization. There will be individual quizzes for each verse and two cumulative review quizzes. The tests include the verses for their corresponding unit. These are in fill-in-the-blank quizzes. Tips for Bible Memorization: Practice writing them since you will write then on the quiz/test. Challenge yourself to writing the verse from memory three times without making a mistake. Start over if make a mistake at any point. Use online tools like ScriptureTyper.com; do a Google search to find other tools. Make an outline for the verse. Prepare a radio commercial on the verse by recording your voice on a smartphone or computer. Look up the verse commentaries or study Bibles. Use dictionaries to look up words you don t understand. Make flash cards, carry them with you, or post them where you can see them often (like the bathroom mirror, the side of your bed, your desk, your notebook, your soccer ball, etc.). Make your own quizzes for practice. Work with a buddy, and quiz each other. Count the words of every verse. Compose a song for the verse. Make a picture that will help you remember it. Send Mr. Cancino a new idea on how to memorize the verse. Repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat
