Love Grows Here ADAM Road CHURCH NEWS 26 th Annual General Meeting 2015 The Adam Road church held its AGM on Saturday, 28 February 2015. Preacher Simon Chin began the meeting in the name of Jesus, after which the congregation sang a hymn and prayed for the Lord s guidance. Preacher Chin encouraged the congregation that this church meeting is convened to discuss matters of God s kingdom. Just like the apostolic church met together to find out the will of God, the leaders then always concluded with a decision of the Holy Spirit. Deacon Jason Hsieh led the rest the AGM. The 2014 AGM minutes were confirmed after it was read out to the congregation. This was followed by a presentation of the annual report year highlighting the work of the respective departments in the church. The Financial Statement for year 2014 was read out, and the budget for year 2015 was accepted after a few queries from members. Bro Low Sik Kuan also presented a vision of TJC- SG100, when in about 12 years, the church in Singapore will be celebrating its centennial, and how glorious it will be if all members are ready, especially the younger generation. May all of us pitch in our efforts to glorify His name. Let us also continue to pray that the Lord add to the laborers of the harvest. May He give us strength to complete the work. Reunion Dinner 2015 Hallelujah! Thank the Lord, the end of the year was here once again! We ushered in the Lunar New Year, which is a very special occasion with the reunion dinner. The dinner is an annual event that must not be missed. Every member of the household gathers together for a sumptuous dinner. There is a phrase in a song which goes like this: With or without riches we all return home for reunion. This reflects how much the Chinese esteem the reunion dinner and the Lunar New Year. There is a phrase that reads, Alone as strangers in a foreign land, we long for our loved ones every festive season. Even though we were unable to return to our homeland this Lunar New Year for celebrations, we thank God that we were able to have fellowship in the house of the Lord in Singapore. Our brethren from overseas gathered together at Adam Road Church for the reunion dinner on the eve of the Lunar New Year. The reunion dinner gave a sense of warmth and belonging to the members from abroad. After dinner, we gathered for Wednesday night service. Not only did the fellowship benefit us physically, it also edified us spiritually. This Lunar New Year Fellowship has taught us two things: Firstly, regardless of where we are, we must not forget we have a home God s home. Secondly, wherever we go, let us bring along the gospel with us, and to be the salt and light of this world. Hallehlujah! Emmanuel! 2
Chinese New Year Thanksgiving Service Count your blessings, name them one by one: Count your blessings, See what God hath done... By the grace of God, on the first day of Chinese Lunar New Year (19 Feb 2015), a thanksgiving service was held in Adam Road Church to remind all of us of the beautiful grace that God has given us. The members spent the morning together listening to a sermon spoken by Preacher Barnabas Chong on the topic Renewal on New Year s Day. It reminded all of us to always renew our relationship with our God, family and spouses, and to always be enthusiastic about worship and services. After the service ended, the members went around wishing one another a peaceful new year. Instantaneously, the church was filled with laughter and words of blessings. It was a heart -warming scene to see all members spending the few hours together like a big family. 3
