Seasonal Sentence God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, and he has entrusted us with the message of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5.19 The Gathering of The Community (Page 230) Celebrant: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. All: And with thy spirit. Celebrant: Let us pray. All: Almighty God, unto whom all hearts be open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of thy Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love thee, and worthily magnify thy holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen. The Summary of the Law Celebrant: Our Lord Jesus Christ said: hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord; and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it: thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. All: Lord, have mercy upon us, and write both these thy laws in our hearts, we beseech thee. Lord, have mercy upon us. Christ have mercy upon us. Lord, have mercy upon us. 8:00 a.m. - The Holy Eucharist & Homily The Gloria All: Glory be to God on high, and in earth peace, good will towards men. We praise thee, we bless thee, we worship thee, we glorify thee, we give thanks to thee for thy great glory, O Lord God, heavenly king, God the Father almighty. O Lord, the only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ; O Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, that takest away the sin of the world, have mercy upon us. Thou that takest away the sin of the world, receive our prayer. Thou that sittest at the right hand of God the Father, have mercy upon us. For thou only art holy; thou only art the Lord; thou only, O Christ, with the Holy Ghost, art most high in the glory of God the Father. Amen. 3

The Collect (Page 378) Celebrant: Let us pray Stir up, O Lord, the wills of your faithful people, that richly bearing the fruit of good works, we may by you be richly rewarded; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. All: Amen. The First Reading: Exodus 12:1-14 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt: This month shall mark for you the beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year for you. Tell the whole congregation of Israel that on the tenth of this month they are to take a lamb for each family, a lamb for each household. If a household is too small for a whole lamb, it shall join its closest neighbour in obtaining one; the lamb shall be divided in proportion to the number of people who eat of it. Your lamb shall be without blemish, a year old male; you may take it from the sheep or from the goats. You shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month; then the whole assembled congregation of Israel shall slaughter it at twilight. They shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and the lintel of the houses in which they eat it. They shall eat the lamb that same night; they shall eat it roasted over the fire with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. Do not eat any of it raw or boiled in water, but roasted over the fire, with its head, legs, and inner organs. You shall let none of it remain until the morning; anything that remains until the morning you shall burn. This is how you shall eat it: your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it hurriedly. It is the passover of the Lord. For I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will strike down every firstborn in the land of Egypt, both human beings and animals; on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgements: I am the Lord. The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live: when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague shall destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt. This day shall be a day of remembrance for you. You shall celebrate it as a festival to the Lord; throughout your generations you shall observe it as a perpetual ordinance. Reader: The Word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God. Psalm 149 (Page 908) 1 Hallelujah! Sing to the Lord a new song; * sing his praise in the congregation of the faithful. 4

2 Let Israel rejoice in his maker; *let the children of Zion be joyful in their king. 3 Let them praise his name in the dance; *let them sing praise to him with timbrel and harp. 4 For the Lord takes pleasure in his people *and adorns the poor with victory. 5 Let the faithful rejoice in triumph; *let them be joyful on their beds. 6 Let the praises of God be in their throat *and a two-edged sword in their hand; 7 To wreak vengeance on the nations *and punishment on the peoples; 8 To bind their kings in chains *and their nobles with links of iron; 9 To inflict on them the judgement decreed; *this is glory for all his faithful people. Hallelujah! Accept our praise, God of justice, defender of the oppressed. Give us grace to join in this your holy work, that all the world may see your glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. The Second Reading: Romans 13:8-14 Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. The commandments, "You shall not commit adultery; You shall not murder; You shall not steal; You shall not covet"; and any other commandment, are summed up in this word, "Love your neighbour as yourself." Love does no wrong to a neighbour; therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law. Besides this, you know what time it is, how it is now the moment for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we became believers; the night is far gone, the day is near. Let us then lay aside the works of darkness and put on the armour of light; let us live honourably as in the day, not in revelling and drunkenness, not in debauchery and licentiousness, not in quarrelling and jealousy. Instead, put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires. Reader: The Word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God. The Gospel Reader: The Lord be with you. All: And with thy spirit. Reader: The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew (18:15-20) All: Glory be to thee, O Lord. Jesus said, "If another member of the church sins against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If the member listens to you, you have 5

regained that one. But if you are not listened to, take one or two others along with you, so that every word may be confirmed by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If the member refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if the offender refuses to listen even to the church, let such a one be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again, truly I tell you, if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them." Reader: The Gospel of Christ. All: Praise be to thee, O Christ. Homily The Apostles Creed (Page 251) All: I believe in God the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth: And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Come unto me all that labour and are heavy laden, and I will refresh you. Matthew 1.28 God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, to the end that all that believe in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3.16 Hear also what Saint Paul saith. This is a true saying, and worthy of all to be received, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. 1 Timothy 1.15 Hear also what Saint John saith. If anyone sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2.1,2 Let us humbly confess our sins to almighty God. All: Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Maker of all things and judge of all people: we acknowledge and confess our manifold sins and wickedness, which we from time to time most grievously have committed, by thought, word and deed, against thy divine majesty. We do earnestly repent, and are heartily sorry for these our misdoings. Have mercy upon us, most merciful Father; for thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ s sake, forgive us all that is past; and grant that we may ever hereafter serve and please thee in newness of life, to the honour and glory of thy name; Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Celebrant: Almighty God, our heavenly Father, who of his great mercy hath promised forgiveness of sins to all them that with hearty repentance and true faith turn unto him: have mercy upon you; pardon and deliver you from all your sins; confirm and strengthen you in all goodness; and bring you to everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. All: Amen. 7

The Peace Celebrant: The Peace of the Lord be always with you. All: And with thy spirit. Please greet one another with a sign of peace. Offertory Interlude (Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing) Prayer over The Gifts (Page 379) Celebrant: Let us pray. Great and holy God, accept our offering of labour and love. May we bring you true and spiritual worship and be one with you. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. All: Amen. Eucharistic Prayer B (Page 243) Celebrant: The Lord be with you. People: And with thy spirit. Celebrant: Lift up your hearts. People: We lift them up unto the Lord. Celebrant: Let us give thanks unto our Lord God. People: It is meet and right so to do. It is very meet, right, and our bounden duty, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto thee, O Lord, holy Father, almighty, everlasting God, creator and preserver of all things. Therefore with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify thy glorious name; evermore praising thee and saying: All: Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of Hosts, heaven and earth are full of thy glory. Glory be to thee, O Lord most high. Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest. Please kneel or sit as you are able. Celebrant: All glory be to thee, O Lord our God, who didst make us in thine own image; and, of thy tender mercy, didst give thine only Son Jesus Christ to take our nature upon him, and to suffer death upon the cross for our redemption. He made there a full and perfect sacrifice for the whole world; and did institute, and in his holy Gospel command us to continue, a perpetual memory of that his precious death and sacrifice, until his coming again; who, in the same night that he was betrayed, took bread; and when he had 8

given thanks to thee, he broke it, and gave it to His disciples, saying, Take, eat, this is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me. Likewise, after supper, he took the cup; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, Drink this, all of you; for this is my Blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you, and for many, for the remission of sins. Do this, as oft as ye shall drink it, in remembrance of me. Wherefore, O Lord and heavenly Father, we thy people do celebrate and make, with these thy holy gifts which we now offer unto thee, the memorial thy Son hath commanded us to make; having in remembrance his blessed passion and precious death, his mighty resurrection and glorious ascension; and looking for his coming again with power and great glory. And we most humbly beseech thee, O merciful Father, to hear us, and, with thy Word and Holy Spirit, to bless and sanctify these gifts of bread and wine, that they may be unto us the body and blood of thy dearly-beloved Son Jesus Christ. All: We praise thee, we bless thee, we thank thee, and we pray to thee, Lord our God. And we earnestly desire thy fatherly goodness to accept this our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving, whereby we offer and present unto thee, O Lord, ourselves, our souls and bodies. Grant, we beseech thee, that all who partake of this holy communion may worthily receive the most precious body and blood of thy Son Jesus Christ, and be filled with thy grace and heavenly benediction; and also that we and all thy whole Church may be made one body with him, that he may dwell in us, and we in him; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord; By whom, and with whom, and in whom, in the unity of the Holy Spirit all honour and glory be unto thee, O Father Almighty, world without end. Amen. The Lord s Prayer Celebrant: And now, as our Saviour Christ hath taught us, we are bold to say, People: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. The Breaking of the Bread People: We do not presume to come to this thy table, O merciful Lord, Trusting in our own righteousness, But in thy manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy So much as to gather up the crumbs under thy table. But thou art the 9

same Lord, Whose property is always to have mercy: Grant us therefore, gracious Lord, So to eat the flesh of thy dear Son Jesus Christ, And to drink his blood, That we may evermore dwell in him, And he in us. Amen. O Lamb of God, that takest away the sin of the world: have mercy upon us. O Lamb of God, that takest away the sin of the world: have mercy upon us. O Lamb of God, that takest away the sin of the world: grant us thy peace. Celebrant: The Gifts of God for the People of God. All: Thanks be to God. Communion Interlude (King Of Glory) Prayer after Communion (Page 248) Celebrant: Let us pray, All: We most heartily thank thee, almighty and everliving God, that thou dost graciously feed us, in these holy mysteries, with the spiritual food of the most precious body and blood Of thy Son our Saviour Jesus Christ; assuring us thereby of thy favour and goodness towards us; and that we are living members of his mystical Body, which is the blessed company of all faithful people; and are also heirs through hope of thy everlasting kingdom. And we humbly beseech thee, O heavenly Father, so to assist us with thy grace, that we may continue in that holy fellowship, and do all such good works as thou hast prepared for us to walk in; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with thee and the Holy Spirit, be all honour and glory, world without end. Amen. The Blessing Lay Minister: This act of worship is ended! Our service in the world continues! Let us go in peace, to love and serve the Lord. All: Thanks be to God. Recessional (Let Us With A Gladsome Mind) 10

Seasonal Sentence God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, and he has entrusted us with the message of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5.19 Hymn 599 Awake! Awake! Fling Off The Night Awake! Awake! Fling off the night, for God has sent a glorious light, And we who live in Christ's new day must works of darkness put away. Awake and sing, with praises strong, in psalm and hymn and spirit-song. Let love our words and works renew with all that's good and right and true. Let in the light; all sin expose to Christ, whose life no darkness knows. Before the cross expectant kneel, that Christ may judge, and judging, heal. Then rise as children of the light. Be neither proud, nor hide from sight. Be careful how you live, and wise to sift the truth from cunning lies. Through Christ give thanks to God, and say to other sleepers on the way: Awake, and rise up from the dead that Christ may shine on you instead! Gradual Hymn 487 Where Charity And Love Prevail (vv. 1,2,3,5) Where charity and love prevail, there God is ever found; Brought here together by Christ s love by love are we thus bound. 13

With grateful joy and holy fear, his charity we learn; Let us with heart and mind and strength now love him in return. Forgive we now each other s faults as we our faults confess; And let us love each other well in Christian holy peace. The Gospel Reader: The Lord be with you. All: And also with you. Reader: The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew (18:15-20) All: Glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus said, "If another member of the church sins against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If the member listens to you, you have regained that one. All: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. Let us recall that in our midst dwells God s begotten Son; As members of his body joined, we are in him made one. Sermon The Apostles Creed (Page 189) Celebrant: Let us confess the faith of our baptism, as we say, All: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. 14

We are of thee, the children of thy love, Companions of thy well-beloved Son; Descend, O Holy Spirit, like a dove Into our hearts, that we may be as one: As one with thee, to whom we ever tend; As one with him, our pattern and our friend. We would be one in hatred of all wrong, One in our love of all things sweet and fair, One with the joy that rises into song, One with the grief that finds no voice prayer, One in the power that makes thy children free To follow truth, and thus to follow thee. O clothe us with thy heavenly armour, Lord, Thy trusty shield, thy sword of love divine; Our inspiration be thy constant word; We ask no victories that are not thine; Give us the shield of faith that we may be steadfast, Attentive, firm in serving thee. Eucharistic Prayer 1 (Page 193) Celebrant: The Lord is with you. People: And also with you. Celebrant: Lift up your hearts. People: We lift them to the Lord. Celebrant: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. People: It is right to give our thanks and praise. Celebrant: It is indeed right that we should praise you, gracious God, for you created all things. You formed us in your own image: male and female you created us. When we turned away from you in sin, you did not cease to care for us, but opened a path of salvation for all people. You made a covenant with Israel, and through your servants Abraham and Sarah gave the promise of a blessing to all nations. Through Moses you led your people from bondage into freedom; through the prophets you renewed your promise of salvation. Therefore, with them, and with all your saints who have served you in every age, we give thanks and raise our voices to proclaim the glory of your name. All: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might. Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full, full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest, hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest, hosanna in the highest. Please kneel or sit as you are able. Holy God, source of life and goodness, all creation rightly gives you praise. In the fullness of time, you sent your Son Jesus Christ, to share our human nature, to live and die as one of us, to reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all. He healed the sick and ate and drank with outcasts and sinners; he opened the eyes of the blind and proclaimed the good news of your kingdom to the poor and to those in need. In all things he fulfilled your gracious will. On the night he freely gave himself to death, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread, and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, Take, eat: this is my body which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me. After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, Drink this, all of you: this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me. 17

Gracious God, his perfect sacrifice destroys the power of sin and death; by raising him to life you give us life for evermore. Therefore we proclaim the our hope. All: Dying you destroyed death, rising you restored our life. Lord Jesus, come in glory. Recalling his death, proclaiming his resurrection, and looking for his coming again in glory, we offer you, Father, this bread and this cup. Send your Holy Spirit upon us and upon these gifts, that all who eat and drink at this table may be one body and one holy people, a living sacrifice in Jesus Christ, our Lord. Through Christ, with Christ, and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory is yours, almighty Father, now and for ever. Amen. The Lord s Prayer (Malotte) Celebrant: As our Saviour taught us, let us pray, People: Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. We taste of you, the living bread, and long to feast upon you still. We drink from you, the fountainhead, our thirsty souls from you we fill. Our restless spirits long for you, however may our lot be cast; Glad when your gracious smile we view, Blessed when our faith can hold thee fast. Jesus, forever with us stay: make all our moments calm and bright; Chase the dark night of sin away; spread through the world your holy light.
