PRAYER POINTERS Education Sunday Education Sunday is a national day of prayer and celebration for everyone involved in the world of education. For more than 100 years there has been an annual recognition of Education Sunday in England and Wales, and is now celebrated on the second Sunday in September, in line with each new academic year. Please remember all those who are in education, especially those beginning new schools or entering university or higher education. Remember too those who work in schools head teachers, teachers and teaching assistants, other staff and governors. A prayer from this year s Education Sunday resources: Lord God we pray Your blessing on all who work in education, that they may see the kingdom come; We pray Your blessing on all who influence education, that they may see your will be done; We pray for all who are receiving education, that they may receive their daily bread; We pray for all those who have received education, that they may share their gifts with all your children; Send us out to live and work to Your praise and glory, in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen https://www.cte.org.uk/groups/296912/home/resources/education_sunday/e ducation_sunday_2018/education_sunday_2018.aspx URGENT PRAYER REQUESTS: please call 01768 862787 or email admin@penrithmethodist.co.uk and we will pass on your request to all members of our congregation who are on email.

Make sure you join us for an exciting morning. Senior Youth Club Every Friday night during term time, 25-40 of the town s young people gather in our buildings for youth club. This Friday night ritual has taken place since some of our oldest church members were teenagers. It s a great way of our Church being there for our community and making that first contact with people who have no real idea of what we are about. We are due to start back in on 14th September but, unfortunately, we don t have enough leaders. We are looking for a couple of people who are willing to get involved in this long standing work. Please contact: Andrew & Sarah Wright on 07464 935359 Or Paul Rose on 07704 835549. Penrith Music Club Concert Monday 17 th September, 7.30pm at PMC Northern Chamber Orchestra. Summer Evening Walks The last of this year s Summer evening walks was held on 21 st August with 19 of our church members and friends enjoying a fine evening ramble from Langwathby to Edenhall and the Ladies Walk beside the River Eden. The charity sponsored by this year s walks is the Penrith Community Gardens scheme: towards which the sum of 660 has been collected. Thanks must go to those who have been so willing to lead the walks, transport our walkers and provide refreshments at the end of each evening. Interest in the walks this year has experienced something of a renaissance with larger numbers coming to enjoy the evenings than in the previous couple of years. Next Summer s programme of evening walks will commence on Tuesday 7 th May 2019. Graham & Thelma Allan
