ST. HELEN CHURCH RIVERSIDE, OHIO July 30, 2017 THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO SIGNED UP FOR THE BEREAVEMENT LUNCHEON MINISTRY LAST WEEKEND The opportunity to gather for a nice meal after the emotion of a funeral can be a real source of comfort for family and friends dealing with a loss. We are blessed as a parish to have people willing to minister to others in their time of need! If you were unable to sign up last weekend and would be available on a rotating basis to serve at a luncheon, call through the list of volunteers to make a dish, or prepare a casserole, vegetable, salad, or dessert for a funeral luncheon, please contact Carol Engel at 258-8510. She will be happy to talk to you! Lord, protect our military as they sacrifice for us; bless them and their families for their continuing selflessness. ATTENTION: NEW AND 2ND YEAR SERVERS Our training session will be held next Sunday, August 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the church. We will pray together and learn the various ways of supporting the priest and deacon during Mass. Parents or guardians should bring children into church and check in with Miss Mary. At 4 p.m., please come back into church to pick the children up. Doing so makes it easier to account for each child. Thank you to all of the students who signed up, and thank you to the parents who are supporting their children as they give of their time in the work of the church! Join us in the Smith Building NEXT SUNDAY, following Mass, for the return of Coffee & Donut Sunday (Coffee, donuts, bagels, fruit, and juice will be available.) IN SEARCH OF WISDOM... OF AN UNDER- STANDING HEART In today s first reading, Solomon prays, Give your servant, therefore, an understanding heart to judge your people and to distinguish right from wrong. Lord, may we rejoice in our similarities rather than revel smugly in our differences. May we seek to understand one another. May we, in the words of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, learn to regard people less in the light of what they do or omit to do, and more in the light of what they suffer. May we be one in you.

She was admitted to the hospital 5/16 following a severe attack. She died 6/7/17. The hospital visits, the support as we planned her funeral, the food the bereavement committee provided, the cards, texts, calls, flowers and food have all meant so much to us.
