HEALING MINISTRY During Jesus ministry he cured many who were sick with various diseases, and he drove out many demons. This is the case in today s Gospel. Jesus fulfills the vision of Psalm 147: He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Jesus knew, however, that he couldn t possibly heal all the illness in the world. No matter how many people he cured or how many hours he ministered, there always would be more suffering people like Job who craved his healing touch. His primary mission was not to rid the world of all suffering. His purpose was to preach the coming of the reign of God that heals, yes, but ultimately transcends and transforms earthly suffering. With Paul, Jesus could have said, Woe to me if I do not preach that good news. Happy Anniversary Bernie & Liz Hodges celebrated on January 24th their 59th Wedding Anniversary Joan & Frank Ferenc on January 25th celebrated their 54th Wedding Anniversary Congratulations

Tri-Parish Mission February 26th at St Clements 7pm February 27th at St. Michaels 7pm February 28th at Annunciation 7pm Disrupting & Rebuilding - Self, Church, & Society A Lenten Reflection on Being Missionary Disciples in Baltimore County Today Pope John Paul II was a philosopher and helped us to understand "WHY" we should each be a disciple of Jesus. Pope Benedict XVI is a theologian and has shown us "HOW" we can best follow Jesus as a community of disciples. Now, Pope Francis, the pastor is saying to all of us, "Now it is time to GO and DO it!" On the first evening we will look at ourselves, and the WHY of discipleship. On the second evening we will broaden the scope to include all of us as Church, and HOW we follow Jesus as disciples. On the final evening, we will explore the DOING of missionary discipleship in the here and now. Friar Michael Lasky Friar Michael grew up in our area. As a member of St. Michael Parish, he attended St. Michael School and later went on to Archbishop Curley High School where he met the friars. After a couple of years at Loyola he entered the community of the Franciscan Friars. His first ministry after ordination to the priesthood, in May 2000, was to assist for three months at St. Clement in Rosedale. At the end of that summer he was assigned to teach high school at St. Francis, just outside of Buffalo, NY. Friar Michael has also been a campus minister in Connecticut and in North Carolina where he served at both Duke and UNC Chapel Hill. He has also ministered internationally in Assisi, Italy and in Bogotá, Colombia. At one point in his journey, Friar Michael was asked by the international Franciscan family to be the director of the New York office of Franciscans International, the collective Franciscan NGO at the United Nations. This ministry has led to him now being the director of the Justice, Peace and Protection of Creation ministry for the friars of his province that reaches from Ottawa in Canada to Florida. In addition he is involved with several international projects for the Franciscans, and serves as Vice-President of Franciscan Action Network in Washington D.C. Friar Michael spends much of his time assisting friars in thier ministries, here on the east coast, with projects related to sustainable development, care for creation, justice for marginalized communities, and peace-building. 50th Anniversary Service Project As sons and daughters of God we are called into service. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Mark 10:45. As part of our Jubilee Year, we want to urge everyone to participate in our mission to serve. The 50th Anniversary Service Project will be donating 15 Casseroles to Sarah's Hope Homeless Shelter beginning in January and ending in November. Casserole pans and recipes will be handed out to fifteen volunteers. The recipes will be prepared in your own kitchen and brought to church before any Mass. The casseroles will be frozen and delivered to the shelter the following week. The confirmation candidates will be making the casseroles for the month of January. We will begin asking for volunteers from the parishioners beginning in February. To assist with this, please contact Paul Nezzio at PNezzio@yahoo.com or 410-387-1461. Please, help us make this Service Project successful. Thank you DID YOU KNOW? Our Parish has many active organizations. These organizations meet here at Church: Ladies Auxiliary, Social Concerns, Religious Education, The Folk Group, Annunciation Road Runners, Funsters, and The Knights of Columbus. We not only have active organizations, we also have Sanbayan Filipino Community Mass once a month, and a new soccer team that had a great first season. Our Parish has a dedicated group of men and women who volunteer at hospitals, visit shutins, make sandwiches for beans and bread, visit veterans and so much more. We will delve deeper into these organizations and activities throughout 2018. Please check the Jubilee bulletin board in the hall for more information.
