INTRODUCTION And without controversy, great is the mystery (hidden truth) of godliness: God was manifested (revealed) in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Jews and Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up the glory (I Timothy 3:16). The question of Jesus being God continues to be a controversy to those who have not fully known and have not received the revelation and the mystery of the God head Bodily (Colossians 1:18-22 & 2:9-10). Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15). Jesus said in John 8:24, if ye believe not that I am He ye shall die in your sins. You are hereby admonished to give prayerful consideration to the following: Who is God? Bishop A.B. Loring < 1 >

THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD (GODHEAD) There is only one God, the creator of heaven and the earth and of all mankind, manifest to mankind as father (creator), son (savior), and Holy Ghost (dwelling spirit). (FATHER) God is a spirit (John 4:24), the eternal one, the creator of all things and of course, all men; thus, making Him their father (through creation). He is the first and last and beside Him, there is no God (Isaiah 44:6). There was no God formed before Him, neither shall there be after Him (Isaiah 43:10). (SON) Jesus is the Son of God according to the flesh (Roman 1:3) and the very God Himself according to the spirit (Matthew 1:23). Jesus is the Christ (Matthew 16:16), the creator of all things (Colossians 1:16-17). God made flesh (John 1:1-14), God manifested in the flesh (I Timothy 3:16); He which was, which is, and which is to come, the ALMIGHTY (Isaiah 9:6). Jesus Himself testified when He said, he that hath seen me hath seen the Father (John 14:7-11) and I and My Father are one (John 10:30). Since it took shedding of blood for remission of the sins of the world (Hebrews 9:22), God as the Father being a Spirit, had no blood to shed; therefore He prepared a body of flesh and blood (Hebrews 10:5) that He might fulfill the prophecy of Isaiah (Isaiah 43:11). Beside Me there is no Savior: and caused the angels to sing for there is born this day in the city of David, a savior which is Christ, the Lord (Luke 2:11). (HOLY GHOST) The Holy Ghost is not the third person in the Godhead, but rather the manifestation of the spirit of God (the creator) and of the resurrected Christ. Coming to dwell in the hearts and lives of all men who will be obedient to the gospel, as the comforter, sustainer, and keeper (John 1:14, 16-26 & Roman 8:11). Therefore, there are not three Gods but rather three manifestation of the ONE GOD. These three are one (I John 5:7) Amen. Read Matthew 1:23 & Isaiah 7:4. Every word of God is true and Jesus is the greatest name that has ever been given to a man and God saved it for the church. Jesus means Savior and Christ means Anointing. This is why Jesus said from Isaiah 61:1-3 that the spirit of the Lord is upon me because the lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound. Thus we are to always pray and ask in the name of Jesus!! Amen. Read Romans 8:11-15. < 2 >

INSPIRATION OF THE WORD OF GOD We must always remember that All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost (2 Peter 1:2). The Bible was written under the inspiration of God. The question is asked by some, if the Bible is the word of God then why does it contradict itself? They are trying to take one scripture or a part of a scripture to establish a doctrine or belief, but the Bible teaches Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation (2 peter 1:20). We cannot change the word of God by what we believe or teach, For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven. Psalms 119:89, neither can we destroy it, Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away (Matthew 24:35). We can accept it as the inspired word of God or reject it. *************************************************************************************** ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE BIBLE TEACHES ONLY ONE TRUE GOD Thou believest that there is ONE GOD; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. James 2:19. We do well to believe that there is one God because that is all the Bible teaches. Carefully study the scriptures mentioned on the subject as follows: o Deuteronomy 4:35--The Lord He is God, there is none else besides Him. o Deuteronomy 4:39--There is None Else o Deuteronomy 6:4-- Lord our God is one Lord o Deuteronomy 32:39--I even I, am He, and there is no God with me. o I Samuel 2:2--None holy as the Lord, None beside Thee. o 2 Samuel 7:22 None like Thee None beside Thee. o 1 Kings 8:60 The Lord is God There is None else. o 2 Kings 19:15 Thou art God even Thou alone. o 2 Kings 19:19 Thou art the Lord even thou only. o Psalms 86:10 Thou art God alone. o Isaiah 40:25 To whom the will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? Saith the Holy One. o Isaiah 42:8 I am the Lord, and my glory will I not give to another. o Isaiah 43:10-11 Before me there was no God formed neither shall there be after me, I even I, am the Lord; and beside Me there is no Saviour. o Isaiah 44:6 I am the first and the last and beside me there is no God. o Revelation 1:11 (Jesus) saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the Last. o Isaiah 44:8 Is there a God beside me? There is no God, I know not any. o Isaiah 44:24 Thus saith the Lord thy redeemer and He that formed thee, I am the Lord that maketh all things that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by Myself. o Isaiah 45:5 I am the Lord and there is none else. There is no God beside me. o Isaiah 45:6--There is none beside Me, I am the Lord and there is None Else. o Isaiah 45:15 Verily thou art a God that hideth thyself O God of Israel, the Saviour (Jesus). o Isaiah 45:18 I am the Lord: and there is none Else. < 3 >

o Isaiah 45:21 There is no God else beside Me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside Me. o Isaiah 45:22 Look unto Me, and be ye saved, for I am God and there is None Else. o Isaiah 46:9 For I am God, and there is None Else; I am God there is none like Me. o Isaiah 48:11 I will not give my glory unto another (Isaiah 45:5). o Isaiah 48:12 I am He; I am the First, I also am the Last (Rev. 1:8). o Hosea 13:4 Thou shalt know no god but Me; for there is no SAVIOUR beside me. (Matthew 1:21). o Joel 2:27 I am the Lord, your God, and None Else. o Zechariah I4:9 In that day shall there be ONE LORD, and HIS NAME ONE. o Philippians 2:11 Every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is LORD to the glory of God the Father. o Malachi 2:10 Have we not all ONE FATHER? HATH not ONE GOD created us? o Malachi 3:16 A book of remembrance was written before Him for them that feared the Lord and that thought upon His NAME. o Matthew 4:10 Thou shalt worship the Lord, thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve. o Matthew 23:9 ONE is your FATHER. Call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven (1 John 3:16). o Mark 12:29-30 Jesus says, The Lord our God is ONE LORD; and thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength; this is the first commandment. WHO IS THIS ONE GOD that we must love with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, the only ONE we are to worship, the only one we are to serve? The Bible answers in Jeremiah 10:10, But the Lord is the true God, He is the living God. In Acts 9:5, Saul asked the question, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus. So Jesus is the Lord and the Lord is the true God. o Mark 12:32 The Scribes said, There is one God and there is none other but He. o John 8:41 We have One Father even God. o Romans 3:29-30 God of the Gentiles and God of the Jews, seeing it is ONE GOD. o 1 Corinthians 8:4 There is none other God but One. o I Corinthians 8:6 But to us there is but One God, the Father. o Galatians 3:20 God is One. o Ephesians 4:5 One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism. o Ephesians 4:6 One God and Father of ALL, who is above all, and through all and in you all. *************************************************************************************** ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JESUS IS GOD o Genesis1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. o Isaiah 7:14 And shall call His name Immanuel (God with us). o Isaiah 9:6 And His name shall be called Wonderful, Councellor, THE MIGHTY GOD, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of peace. o Isaiah 43:10 Teaches that there is but ONE GOD. o Matthew 1:23 They shall call His name Immanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. o John 1:10 He (Jesus) was in the world, and the world was made by Him. o John 10:30 I and My FATHER are ONE o John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto Him, (JESUS) my Lord and my GOD. o Colossians 4:16 For by Him (Jesus) were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth. o I John 5:7 The Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost are ONE. o I John 5:8 The spirit, and the water, and the blood agree in ONE. < 4 >

The Jews did not take Jesus to be teaching as the modern preachers of today do, that Jesus meant that He was one person and the Father was another person who were one in purpose, etc., but they took up stones to stone Him. John 10:33, For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy; and because that being a man, MAKEST THOUSELF GOD. They knew He was teaching that He is God. When Jesus said unto man in Mark 2:5 and Luke 5:20, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. The Jews asked the question Who can forgive sins, but God alone? But Jesus answered in Luke 5:24, But that ye may know that the Son of man (He was both God and man) hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (He said unto the sick of the palsy) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. Matthew 11:2-5 Now when John had heard in the prison and works the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, and said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and show John again those things which ye do hear and see: The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. WHO WAS JOHN LOOKING FOR TO COME? Isaiah 35:5-6 says, BEHOLD YOUR GOD WILL COME, and was coming to do the things that Jesus was doing (Read Isaiah 35:4-10). Therefore when John heard again the things that Jesus was doing, he knew that HIS GOD HAD COME and there was not another to look for. Revelation 1:17-18 states, Jesus declared Himself to be the FIRST and the LAST (not the second). Revelation 1:8, I am Alpha and Omega, The beginning and the ending saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. *************************************************************************************** ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JESUS THE SON How could Jesus be God when He was the son of God? (John 3:16). How could Jesus be the son of God when He was begotten by the Holy Ghost? (Matthew 1:20). How could Jesus be God when He was the son of Man? (Matthew 16:13). And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh (God was), justified in the spirit (God was), seen of angels (God), preached unto the Gentiles (God was), believed on in the world (God was), received up into glory (I Timothy 3:16). God is a spirit. (John 4:24). A spirit hath not flesh and bones, (Luke 24:39). God throughout the Old Testament did not have a body, but appeared to the people in different forms such as the burning bush to Moses, the cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night to the children of Israel. Also He sent His angels to many who appeared as men, but no one ever saw God before Jesus was born (John 1:18 & 1 John 4:12): God did not have a body until Jesus was born. John 1:1, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD. Verse 14, And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. Genesis 2:7, God formed man of the dust of the ground. (without the aid of a father and mother.) Then why would it seem such an impossible thing for God the eternal spirit to overshadow Mary, a virgin girl, (which He did, Luke 24:39) and make Himself a body. For in Him (Jesus) dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Colossians 2:9). (Jesus) Who is the image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15). God the eternal Spirit was the father of the flesh which made Him the Son of God. His flesh was the lamb of God to be offered in death as an atonement for the sins of the world. In the flesh He was man, in the spirit He was God. As a man He ate; as God he multiplied bread and fish; as a man He slept in the boat; as God He arose and calmed the stormy waves; as a man He prayed at the grave of Lazarus; as God He raised Lazarus from the death; as a man, He spent nights in prayer; but as God He forgave sins and performed great miracles. As a man He died; as God He raised Himself from the death. < 5 >

John 2:19, He was God and man; Father and son; Spirit and flesh in one image one body (Colossians 2:9). He declared Himself to be in heaven while he was on earth (John 3:13). He who was born in Bethlehem was from everlasting (Micah 5:2). Jesus lived before Abraham (John 8:56-58). It was God who purchased the Church with His own blood (Acts 20:28). This son that was born in Bethlehem declared Himself to be the FIRST and the LAST THE ALMIGHTY (Revelation 1:8, 17, & 18). The scriptures below are a few of the many which teach that what God was in the Old Testament, Jesus Christ is in the New. o Revelation 1:7-8 Jesus the Almighty. o Genesis 17:1 And the Almighty was God. o John 8:58 Jesus was the I AM. o Exodus 3:14 The I AM was God. o Acts 3:14 Jesus was the HOLY ONE. o Isaiah 43:15 And the HOLY ONE was God. o John 8:24 Jesus is the I AM HE. o Isaiah 43:10 And the I AM HE was God. o Revelations 22:13 Jesus is the FIRST and LAST. o Isaiah 44:6 And the FIRST and LAST was God. o I Corinthians 10:4 Jesus was THE ROCK. o Psalms 18:31 And THE ROCK was God. o 2 Corinthians 11:2 Jesus was the ONE HUSBAND. o Jeremiah 31:32 And the ONE HUSBAND was God. o Matthew 23:8 Jesus was the ONE MASTER. o Malachi 1:6 and the ONE MASTER was God. o John 10:16 Jesus was the ONE SHEPHERD o Isaiah 40:11 And the ONE SHEPHERD was God. o Acts 4:12 Jesus was the ONE SAVIOUR. o Isaiah 45:21 And the ONE SAVIOUR was God. o Luke 1:68 Jesus was the ONE REDEEMER. o Isaiah 41:14 And the ONE REDEEMER was God. o Revelation 19:13 Jesus was the WORD OF GOD. o John 1:1-And THE WORD was God. o Revelation 19:16 Jesus was LORD OF LORDS. o Deuteronomy 10:17 And the LORD OF LORDS was God. o Philippians 2:10 Every knee must bow to Jesus. o Isaiah 45:23 Every knee must bow to God. o John 1:3-10 Jesus was the ONE CREATOR. o Genesis 1:1 And the ONE CREATOR. o John 1:49 Jesus was KING OF ISRAEL. o Isaiah 44:6 And the KING OF ISEAEL was God. o Matthew 25:31-46 Jesus is coming. o Zechariah 14:4-5 God is Coming. *************************************************************************************** ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- < 6 >

QUESTIONS 1. If Jesus is not God, when will God come? (Isaiah 35:4-6). 2. If Jesus is not God, when was God who made the world in the world? (John 1:10). 3. If Jesus is not God, when was God manifested in the flesh? (1Timothy 3:16). 4. If Jesus is not God, when did God lay down His Life? (1 John 3:16 & John 3:16). 5. If Jesus is not God, who should we worship, Jesus or God, we can only worship one? (Matthew 4:10). 6. If Jesus is not God, who was Paul looking for to appear, Jesus or God? (Titus 2:11-14). 7. If Jesus is the second person in the Holy Trinity and the Holy Ghost is the third person, then how is the second begotten by the third? (Matthew 1:20). 8. If the Holy Ghost and God are two separate persons, which one is the father of Jesus? For the Bible teaches that he was the son of God. (John 3:16), and it teaches that he was begotten by the Holy Ghost (Matthew 1:20). 9. If Jesus is not God, then why did He tell Phillip, He that has seen Me hath seen the Father (John 14:9). 10. Was the Lord the Redeemer who stretched forth the Heavens alone and spreadeth the earth by Himself? (Isaiah 44:24), was He the same Lord that was born in Luke 2:11? 11. If Jesus is not God, then He cannot be Lord, for the Lord is the true God (Jeremiah 10:20). 12. If Jesus is not God, why did He say to John, I AM ALPHA AND OMEGA, THE BEGINNING AND THE ENDING, SAITH THE LORD, WHICH WAS AND IS, AND IS TO COME,THE ALMIGHTY? (Revelation 1:8). 13. If Jesus is not God, then why did the Bible say that He would be called THE MIGHTY GOD? (Isaiah 9:6). 14. Why did Jesus say, If ye believe not that I am He (The God that should come (Isaiah 35:4) ye shall die in your sins? (John 8:24). We know that the Bible teaches that God is a Spirit (John 4:24), and a spirit hath not flesh and bones, (Luke 24:39). Mary was overshadowed by the spirit of the Highest, (Luke 1:35), which was the Holy Ghost (Matthew 1:20). The Lord is that Spirit (2 Corinthians 3:17). The Spirit is the Father of the flesh or son. Jesus is the image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15) and in Him (Jesus) dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Colossians2:9), JESUS IS THE ONLY GOD. J.M.S. <7 >
