MIDDLE The course study of Redding Christian School strives to be among the most rigorous available. The Middle School curriculum builds upon knowledge of basic facts and skills, and then broadens and connects those facts with deeper meaning and higher level, integrated concepts. Expecting students to enter sixth grade with a mastery of elementary mathematics and English reading and writing skills, the Middle School experience prepares them for a college preparatory high school by offering a skill-based curriculum. 8TH GRADE ALGEBRA COMMON CORE MATH 8 HISTORY MIDDLE ELECTIVES COMPUTERS PUPPETRY WORSHIP TEAM STUDY HALL 6TH GRADE MATHEMATICS HISTORY 7TH GRADE PRE-ALGEBRA HISTORY COOKING And how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 3:15 MIDDLE

HIGH CURRICULUM PHILOSOPHY: The Redding Christian School curriculum develops the essential skills of critical thinking, analysis, fluidity of the written and spoken word, and fluency in a foreign language and culture by implementing a dynamic, studentcentered approach to teaching. Our commitment to small class size and hiring highly respected Christian teachers results in students who are prepared to lead and serve in an ever-changing global community. Redding Christian desires to establish habits of learning that transcend the college experience and reach into all areas of life: precision in thinking, effective communication, independent reading, revision strategies, critical thinking, creativity, and most importantly a passionate love of learning. Through purposeful, active mentorship our faculty not only teach the practical skills of college preparation, but also expose students to larger questions of the vastness and greatness of God. COMMUNITY SERVICE PHILOSOPHY: Christian service and community outreach form one of the pillars upon which the RCHS program is built. Christian young people who are challenged in these areas will develop a lifestyle of service for God. Service is a key ingredient in keeping young people active for God throughout their lives and making them vitally aware of a personal walk with Him. Therefore, it is a wise investment within our academic and spiritual program to encourage and help our students develop a passion for service. RCSPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Upon entering Redding Christian High School, students must commit to 8 hours of service per quarter as part of their Bible class requirements. Community Service will account for a portion of their semester Bible grade. Fulfilling requirements of this program is required for graduation. GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS: 1. RCHS students will participate in service opportunities of their choosing throughout each school year as part of their Bible class. 2. Half of the hours each semester must be completed in church-related activities and the rest in general community service. A minimum of 32 hours each school year are required. Most students complete more than this. 3. Students participating in a one-week mission trip during any semester will satisfy the requirements for that semester. 4. A one-week or longer summer mission trip will satisfy the requirements for the fall semester of the following school year. 5. Students will complete service and class assignments and receive verification from their Bible teachers each quarter while enrolled at RCHS in order to fulfill graduation requirements. PARENT S ROLE: Considering the busy schedules of most families, parents have the opportunity to help their children thoughtfully plan their time and activities. Young people will most likely look forward to community service activities that they consider fun and fulfilling. Consider the following guidelines when encouraging children to complete their community service. Choose activities that the whole family can do together. Establish one hour each week that doesn t interfere with other activities and look for service that fits your family s unique schedule. Teach your children to notice where help is needed. Help them think about the kinds of things they enjoy and help them connect with those opportunities. As the One who called you is holy, so you should also become holy in all behavior, because it is written, Be set-apart, for I am set-apart. I Peter 1:15,16 COMMUNITY SERVICE
