FCS N ctober 22, 2017 SEWARDSH 2018 oday s Laity Sunday has become a highlight of celebrating the manifold gifts and graces of this amazing congregation. And today, our laity kick off this year s Stewardship Campaign. ur theme this year is Say YES! With new life and deeper faithfulness bubbling up all around, we want to Say YES to all that God is doing in our midst. And we want to call each other to go deep and consider anew the part we will play in supporting mission and ministry through our generous financial pledge, for revitalization of our future in growth of children, youth, and families. As the campaign begins, here are a few frequently asked questions: Why is my financial support of First MC important? We each have a vital part to play, sharing of the riches God has entrusted to us to undergird the work of this historic congregation and equip it for the future God unfolds. How is my financial support of First MC being used? he church operates with a conservative annual spending plan of $1.3M. Support comes from six pillars; your pledge support, designated giving, facility usage, rustees, Methodist Foundation, and reschool. he spending plan supports our mission in four main areas; worship life (39%), congregation and community care (19%), local and world outreach (20%), and youth, children, families (22%). What is a pledge? A pledge is a commitment by you to give a stated amount to First MC for the following year usually in monthly payments (or weekly or quarterly, if that works better for you). Why does the church prefer that make a pledge rather than putting money in the plate each Sunday? Quite simply, First MC can rely on your pledge as predictable income whether you are in worship that Sunday or not. his enables us to accurately budget for the coming year s expenses in all that we are called to do. What options are available for fulfilling my pledge? We welcome cash, checks, credit cards via our secure on-line website, automatic checking drafts, and gifts of appreciated stock. he church business office is happy to assist you with any of these options. o Say YES to God is to continually grow in generosity. We invite you to prayerfully consider pledging if you don t already do so, increase your gift/pledge if you haven t done so in years, and plan to give more than you think possible and celebrate the joy!
