Award Criteria The nominee for the Communities of Salt and Light Humanitarian, Philanthropic or Human Services Organization Award must be currently living (or headquartered) in the fourcounty area of the Diocese of Greensburg (Armstrong, Fayette, Indiana, & Westmoreland). Posthumous nominations will not be accepted. The nominee must be one whose lifelong deeds are verifiable and exhibit a significant level of time and talent expended (for the Humanitarian Award) treasure shared (for the Philanthropic Award) service and action provided (for the Outstanding Human Service Organization) These good works should be lifelong activities in the case of the personal awards, and currently being performed in the case of the Outstanding Service Award. In every instance these good works are required to have been accomplished within the boundaries of the Greensburg Diocese. The fruit of these activities, whether wide ranging or specific, ought to have benefited the welfare of the people (of any faith or denomination) of the four counties of the Diocese of Greensburg and fall within the guidelines listed below. Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Greensburg Mission Statement Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Greensburg PA, rooted in the Gospel and social teachings of the Church, is the primary social service agency of the Diocese. Our mission is to serve the human needs of individuals and families regardless of their religious affiliation, and to provide leadership in building collaborative efforts with parishes and communities in addressing these needs. The Mission Statement of Catholic Charities describes our specific pastoral role in ministry to the People of God in the four counties of the Diocese of Greensburg. Please answer the following questions to the best of your ability as they relate to our Catholic Charities Mission Statement as well as the overall Mission of the Catholic Church. (For Humanitarian or Philanthropic award nominees) 1. Explain how this nominee demonstrates to others in their daily life that he/she has a relationship with Jesus Christ in his/her personal life. 2. Explain how this nominee has demonstrated leadership qualities among peers in their service to the Lord. (Give at least three examples.) The nominees have been involved in all of the various fundraising events in our parish. Besides being donors, they have taken on leadership positions in promoting and asking for help with all of our campaigns. They have helped with local and diocesan campaigns.

Explain how this service organization demonstrates to others that its efforts are based on basic principles of Christian service to humanity such as the preservation of families, the presence of a clear moral vision, taking effective action to nurture that vision and supporting efforts to work for peace and protect the dignity of each human life. 4. Explain how this nominee has demonstrated leadership qualities among peers in their service to the Lord. (Give at least three examples.) 5. Explain how this service organization demonstrates to others that its efforts are based on basic principles of Christian service to humanity such as the preservation of families, the presence of a clear moral vision, taking effective action to nurture that vision and supporting efforts to work for peace and protect the dignity of each human life. 6. How does your service organization nominee make it a part of its service to the Lord to call others to action for their cause? (Please be specific.)
