Bishop Gregory O. Brewer will speak. Scripture readings, prayers and music led by the combined choirs of the Cathedral and Chancel Choir of First Methodist Church, Orlando will be offered. There will also be music by the Orlando Gay Chorus and the Orlando Fire Department Bagpipe Band, a reading of the names of those who lost their lives and lighting of votive candles in memory of those victims. Counselors will be available to speak privately with anyone after the Vigil. This service will not include Holy Eucharist as previously advertised. A love offering will be requested to benefit SOMOS Orlando ( We are Orlando ) a coalition of organizations which provides all manner of services to the community including financial assistance to the families of the Pulse victims. SOMOS Orlando is one of the charities supported by the Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida. Ample free parking will be available in the lot on Washington Street at Magnolia Avenue and in the Regions Bank Garage on Washington Street. This year Soul in the City will be held in Lakeland Florida at All Saints Episcopal Church, 202 South Massachusetts Ave, Lakeland FL 33801. For questions or to register contact Kathy Hulin at khulin@teamallsaints.org or call 863-688-4502 Event schedule and online registration at: http://cfdiocese.org/episcopalyouth/event/soul-in-the-city/ Reforming the Care of Souls Lecture by Dr. Jonathan Linebaugh - Monday July 24 th As part of Reformed Theological Seminary s celebration of 500 years of the Protestant Reformation, The Reverend Dr. Jonathan Linebaugh, Priest of the Diocese of Central Florida, will present a lecture entitled Reforming the Care of Souls looking at ways in which Martin Luther, Thomas Cranmer, and the Puritans sought to recast the regular rhythms of pastoral care with a renewed evangelical orientation. A time of discussion will follow the lecture. The lecture will be held 7:00-8:30 p.m. on Monday, July 24 in the Reformation Chapel at First Presbyterian Church of Orlando. The Reverend Dr. Linebaugh serves as Lecturer in New Testament at the University of Cambridge, where he teaches courses on New Testament texts and their history of interpretation. He previously taught for several years at Knox Theological Seminary and has served as guest faculty at Reformed Theological Seminary. He is author of numerous essays and a book, God, Grace, and Righteousness: Wisdom of Solomon and Paul s Letter to the Romans in Conversation. With Michael Allen of RTS, he edited Reformation Readings of Paul: Explorations in History and Exegesis.
