THE LORD S DAY AUGUST 26, AD 2018 Behld, I am ding a new thing; nw it springs frth, d yu nt perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:19

FOR REFLECTION D nt say in yur heart, Wh will ascend int heaven? (that is, t bring Christ dwn) r Wh will descend int the abyss? (that is, t bring Christ up frm the dead). But what des it say? The wrd is near yu, in yur muth and in yur heart (that is, the wrd f faith that we prclaim); because, if yu cnfess with yur muth that Jesus is Lrd and believe in yur heart that Gd raised him frm the dead, yu will be saved. Fr with the heart ne believes and is justified, and with the muth ne cnfesses and is saved Rmans 10:6-10 Yu search the Scriptures because yu think that in them yu have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness abut me. Jhn 5:39 Q. 20. Did Gd leave all mankind t perish in the estate f sin and misery? A. Gd having, ut f his mere gd pleasure, frm all eternity, elected sme t everlasting life, did enter int a cvenant f grace, t deliver them ut f the estate f sin and misery, and t bring them int an estate f salvatin by a redeemer. Q. 21. Wh is the redeemer f Gd's elect? A. The nly redeemer f Gd's elect is the Lrd Jesus Christ, wh, being the eternal Sn f Gd, became man, and s was, and cntinueth t be, Gd and man in tw distinct natures, and ne persn frever. A FEW THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW We believe that Christian Wrship is a renewal f cvenant vws between Christians and the Father, Sn, and Hly Spirit -- a gracius and thankful cnversatin between Gd and His peple. Cnsequently, ur wrship cntains lts f cngregatinal participatin. Yur part is in bld, but dn t wrry if yu get a little lst. Just keep yur bulletin handy thrughut the service. We are a family f families wrshipping tgether. We are teaching ur children t wrship as they wrship with us. If they cry r squirm, it s OK; Gd has rdained praise frm ur children and infants. Restrms are lcated near The Cmmns. Fllw the signs r ask anyne fr directins.

WELCOME AND PREPARATION Silent Prayer f Preparatin: Gracius and merciful Father, quiet ur hearts, ur hands, ur minds and ur suls as we draw near t Yu. Give rest where there is weariness, peace where there is cnflict, and assurance where there is anxiety. Grant us faith t believe that yu speak, ears t hear what yu say and a will t live as yu desire. Prepare us nw t delight in yu, O Gd, Father, Sn and Hly Spirit. Amen. GOD CALLS US TO WORSHIP Psalm 95:1-3, 6-7 Oh cme, let us sing t the Lrd; let us make a jyful nise t the rck f ur salvatin! Let us cme int his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a jyful nise t him with sngs f praise! Fr the Lrd is a great Gd, and a great King abve all gds. Oh cme, let us wrship and bw dwn; let us kneel befre the Lrd, ur Maker! Fr he is ur Gd, and we are the peple f his pasture, and the sheep f his hand. WE RESPOND TO GOD S CALL Psalm 31:1-5 Preparatin: In wrship, Gd speaks. He is nt merely spken abut. Listening and respnding require ur preparatin. Take a mment t be still and knw that He is Gd. Call t Wrship: We need t be called t cme and wrship because we are prne t think we are at the center f all things. Or perhaps we struggle t believe that Gd wants us t draw near. S Gd takes the initiative and calls us t cme and wrship Christ wh is the center. Pastr: In yu, O Lrd, d I take refuge; let me never be put t shame; in yur righteusness deliver me! Peple: Incline yur ear t me; rescue me speedily! Pastr: Be a rck f refuge fr me, a strng frtress t save me! Peple: Fr yu are my rck and my frtress; and fr yur name's sake yu lead me and guide me; Pastr: Int yur hand I cmmit my spirit; Peple: Yu have redeemed me, O Lrd, faithful Gd. PRAYER OF ADORATION

Wrship thrugh singing. Wrship is a gracius cnversatin between Gd and His peple. He speaks grace thrugh His Wrd and we respnd tgether in gratitude thrugh prayer and praise as a cngregatin. Singing is an imprtant way we express ur lve fr Gd and remind urselves f ur place in His redemptive stry. SONGS OF PRAISE Fr the Beauty f the Earth Public Dmain. Wrds: Fllitt Pierpint. CALL TO CONFESSION Jhn 3:17-19 Fr Gd did nt send his Sn int the wrld t cndemn the wrld, but in rder that the wrld might be saved thrugh him. Whever believes in him is nt cndemned, but whever des nt believe is cndemned already, because he has nt believed in the name f the nly Sn f Gd. And this is the judgment: the light has cme int the wrld, and peple lved the darkness rather than the light CONFESSION OF SIN Have mercy n us, O Gd, accrding t yur unfailing lve; accrding t yur great cmpassin, blt ut ur transgressins. Wash away all ur iniquities and cleanse us frm ur sin. Create in us pure hearts, O Gd, and renew a steadfast spirit within us. D nt cast us frm yur presence r take yur Hly Spirit frm us. Restre t us the jy f yur salvatin, and grant us willing spirits, t sustain us. ASSURANCE OF PARDON Jhn 3:14-16 And as Mses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, s must the Sn f Man be lifted up, that whever believes in him may have eternal life. Fr Gd s lved the wrld, that he gave his nly Sn, that whever believes in him shuld nt perish but have eternal life. CONFESSION OF FAITH Heidelberg Catechism, Q1 Pastr: What is thy nly cmfrt in life and in death? Peple: That I, with bdy and sul, bth in life and in death, am nt my wn, but belng t my faithful Savir Jesus Christ, wh with His precius bld has fully satisfied fr all my sins, and redeemed me frm all the pwer f the devil; and s preserves me, that withut the will f my Father in heaven nt a hair can fall frm my head; yea, that all things must wrk tgether fr my salvatin. Wherefre, by His Hly Spirit, He als assures me f eternal life, and makes me heartily willing and ready hencefrth t live unt Him. Cnfessin f Sin. Gd calls us t draw near, but ur sin is a barrier we cannt crss n ur wn. The gd news is that Gd has prvided a way f recnciliatin thrugh Jesus. Cnfessin f sin bth acknwledges ur need fr Gd s mercy and celebrates its abundance in Christ. Assurance f Pardn: Gd declares in the gspel that everyne wh repents and believes in Jesus Christ is frgiven and made clean. Cnfessin f Faith.: Creeds, cnfessins and catechisms are summaries f what we believe the Bible teaches abut the central truths f the Christian faith. We cnfess them tgether in wrship as a way f prfessing ur cmmn faith.

Sermn: Sme view the sermn as a way t get principles fr right living. Others see it as an interesting r inspiratinal talk. In reality, as we pen the Scriptures we encunter Jesus Christ. Therefre, as yu listen, pray t be pen t his leading, exhrtatin, encuragement and healing. SCRIPTURE & SERMON 1 Tim 1:12-17, A Different Gspel I thank him wh has given me strength, Christ Jesus ur Lrd, because he judged me faithful, appinting me t his service, thugh frmerly I was a blasphemer, persecutr, and inslent ppnent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignrantly in unbelief, and the grace f ur Lrd verflwed fr me with the faith and lve that are in Christ Jesus. The saying is trustwrthy and deserving f full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came int the wrld t save sinners, f whm I am the fremst. But I received mercy fr this reasn, that in me, as the fremst, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example t thse wh were t believe in him fr eternal life. T the King f the ages, immrtal, invisible, the nly Gd, be hnr and glry frever and ever. Amen. PASTORAL PRAYER & LORD S PRAYER Our Father, Wh art in Heaven, hallwed be thy Name. Thy Kingdm Cme, thy will be dne, n Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day ur daily bread. Frgive us ur debts as we frgive ur debtrs. And lead us nt int temptatin, but deliver us frm evil. Fr Thine is the Kingdm and the Pwer and the Glry frever, Amen

I cannt give an answer; But this I knw with all my heart His wunds have paid my ransm.

DOXOLOGY Praise Gd, frm whm all blessings flw; Praise Him, all creatures here belw; Praise Him abve, ye heavenly hst: Praise Father, Sn, and Hly Ghst. Amen. The Last Wrd: Gd always has the last wrd. BENEDICTION Numbers 6:24-25 The Lrd bless yu and keep yu; the Lrd make his face t shine upn yu and be gracius t yu; the Lrd lift up his cuntenance upn yu and give yu peace.

WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE? An early Christian pastr nce wrte, in essential things, unity, in debated things, liberty, and in all things, charity. In regard t essential things we believe the basic tenets f the Christian faith as spelled ut in the Apstle s Creed and the Nicene Creed. In regards t debated things we hld many distinctive beliefs which define us as an Assciate Refrmed Presbyterian Church. We are a Biblical Church that believes in the inerrant and sufficient Scriptures as ur nly rule f faith and practice, able t make us wise unt salvatin and useful fr teaching, crrecting, rebuking, and training us as disciples. We are a Refrmed Church which believes that grace flws necessarily ut f Gd s svereignty. Grace is the wrk f Gd alne. Man s free-will is a faculty Gd emplys, but saving grace depends upn the wrk f the Spirit pwerfully renewing man s will t accept Gd s gracius ffer f salvatin. We are an Evangelical Church which believes that the we are called t preach the gspel t every creature under heaven (Mark 16:15) as Christ s ambassadrs as thugh Gd were making His appeal thrugh us t implre men t be recnciled t Gd thrugh faith in Jesus Christ. (2 Crinthians 5:19-20). Gd s svereign chice is ne f the secret things which we cannt knw. Therefre, we preach the gspel earnestly and urgently. We are a Presbyterian Church which believes that Gd has called men t be Elders t prvide spiritual versight, instructin, cunsel and encuragement t the Church. The wrd Presbyterian cmes frm the ancient Greek wrd fr elder. Our church s elders exercise care fr the families in ur cngregatin under the authrity f ther elders frm several neighbring states. This larger grup f elders is called a Presbytery. We are a Cnnectinal Church. We are under the authrity f the Mississippi Valley Presbytery and the Assciate Refrmed Presbyterian Synd. Thrugh these cnnectins, we wrk with ther churches in Nrth America and acrss the wrld t spread the gspel t every creature under heaven. We are a Cnfessinal Church. Our basic dctrines are expressed by the Westminster Cnfessin f Faith and its Larger and Shrter Catechisms. This cnfessin and its catechisms summarizes what we believe the Bible teaches in regard t key dctrines. We d nt hld them t be inerrant r infallible, but we d believe that they accurately express the central truths f the Christian faith.
