The twin processes of globalization and reformation characterized ensuing centuries of Christian development, as increasingly diverse European Christians sought to spread their faith to newly encountered people and continents. Doctor of Ministry DM708-1 Communicating Christ to a Post-Everything World Classroom 6 8:00am 4:50pm Monday, June 4 Thursday, June 7 If one is serious about effectively communicating Christ in our teaching, preaching, evangelism, counseling, and caregiving one finds out quickly that the old habits and old routines do not work anymore. An increasingly secularized American spiritual landscape is intimidating and seems to be in constant flux. This course will look at the ministry of the Word in the context of daily ministry and constant pastoral pressures. Becoming ambassadors of the Word of God to the world requires a new understanding of the role of the communicator, whether in preaching, teaching, or counseling. Pressure and performance expectations of leaders can be replaced by communicative freedom if we make the Bible primary to our vocation. 3 credits Instructor: Dr. Zack Eswine Prerequisite: None. She earned a Master of Arts in Leadership Development from Phoenix Seminary and has edited several books and articles for publication. Dr. Kyle DiRoberts PhD, Dallas Theological Seminary; ThM, Talbot School of Theology; MDiv, Phoenix Seminary Kyle has ministered in many different capacities ranging from a high school intern to lead pastor and co-founder of a church plant in Old Town Scottsdale. After graduating from Phoenix Seminary with a Master of Divinity in Biblical Communication, he completed a Masters of Theology from Talbot School of Theology in La Mirada, CA. He graduated with his PhD in Theological Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary. Teaching God s Word and helping people refine their ability to think theologically is what drives him. Kyle serves an Adjunct Professor in the Biblical Studies Department at Arizona Christian University. He is also a Graduate Teaching Assistant for Online Education at Dallas Theological Seminary. Kyle, Alanna, Kaden, and Emma (Chocolate Lab) live in Scottsdale where he enjoys spending time with his family, photography, and playing golf (even in the summer). Dr. Zack Eswine PhD, Regent University; MDiv, Covenant Theological Seminary Zack serves as pastor for Riverside Church and as Director of Homiletics at Covenant Theological Seminary in Saint Louis, Missouri. Zack s books include, The Imperfect Pastor, which received Christianity Today s Book of the Year award 2016. In the category of Church/Pastoral Leadership, Preaching to a Post-Everything World, was recipient of Preaching Today s Book of the Year Award, 2008. In addition, Zack has written other books that have blessed many Christians and other-than Christians who have honest questions and real-life wounds that require more than trite answers. Zack cultivates life in Webster Groves, Missouri with his wife Jessica and three children. Jessica is an attorney studying apologetics through Houston Baptist University. They open their home to ministry leaders both national and international, who need rest, seek apprenticeship in ministry, or have questions to sort out. Adjunct Faculty (continued) Pastor Bryan Fergus MDiv, Phoenix Seminary Bryan is a Bible teacher with more than nineteen years of pastoral ministry experience. He serves as Lead Pastor of The River, A Calvary Chapel in Ajo, Arizona. In addition to teaching the Scriptures at congregations in California and Arizona, Bryan has been teaching on the undergraduate and graduate levels of Christian higher education since 2001. Bryan is an adjunct professor at Arizona Christian University where he teaches courses in Old Testament and Theology. He has also taught biblical interpretation at seminaries in Yangon, Myanmar and Odessa, Ukraine. Bryan s passion is not only to teach the Bible, but also to equip others to study the Bible themselves. Bryan holds a Bachelor s degree in Church Ministries and Preaching from Hope International University (formerly Pacific Christian College) and a Master of Divinity in Biblical Communication from Phoenix Seminary. Mr. Ryan Stephens PhD Student, Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary; MDiv, Phoenix Seminary Ryan earned his Bachelor s degree in Biblical/Theological studies from Grand Canyon University in 2002. He has been teaching 8-12th grade Bible at Phoenix Christian Preparatory School since 2004. Upon completion of his M.Div. at Phoenix Seminary in 2013, he began a Ph.D. in Old Testament at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. Ryan and his wife, Candice, have two children: Natalie and Tristan. Can my spouse take classes with me?
