Connect with God, Connect with others, Connect others with God all through Jesus C H U R C H H I G H L I G H T S July & August 2018 This is perhaps the most astonishing promise in all the Bible. What if I told you that Jesus himself guarantees that by doing one thing He would personally make certain that all other things would be added to your life? Wouldn t you be willing to move heaven and earth to do that thing? What if I went on to tell you that you don t even need to do all of that? That the one thing Jesus asks you to do is simple. In fact, so simple anyone could do it, including you. The only thing more amazing than this promise is the people who know it and still don t do the one, simple thing Jesus asks of them. This, in spite of the fact that everyone who tries it has proven the promise works. Every. Single. Time. The promise is nestled in the middle of Jesus epic Sermon on the Mount found in Mathew 5-7. In chapter 6 verse 33 Jesus makes this incredible offer, seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Wow. Amazing. Words can t describe the astounding implications of the deal the creator and Lord of the universe is willing to make with you. But what does it mean? How do we seek first the kingdom of God? Here are 3 easy things anyone can do. Read and implement the Bible it is the instruction manual for kingdom living. Reorient your life to match its teaching. Love with excitement It is easy to seek first what we love and feel pumped about. Most people find they need to practice excitement and then the feelings came later. This is what faith is all about. Prioritize Jesus said seek first, not seek only. We can pursue other things, but only after we pursue God s kingdom. In other words, give God the first part of your day in worship, the first part of your week in church, the first part of your paycheck with a tithe (10%). Do these things for 6 months and you will be amazed at the difference they make in your life.
