Grade Level Glossary: Grade 3 Glossary Term Abraham 02.09 Abraham was the father of the Jewish people, Christians are children of Abraham because Jesus Christ was a Jew. Acolyte (Altar Server) 04.03 Someone who helps the priest at the altar during the celebration of the No Mass. Adoration 03.04 Praying silently and giving honor to God present in the tabernacle. Advent 04.04 The four weeks before Christmas which help us prepare our hearts to celebrate Jesus birth. Anointing of the Sick 03.05 The sacrament given to people who are very old or sick. The holy oil and prayers give the person strength, peace and courage to face their illness. Apostles' Creed 01.01 A prayer that tells what Catholics believe about God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit. Baptismal Call 11.03 Because we have been baptized, we are called to be holy and to teach others about God and how much he loves us. Sin 01.07 Something we do on purpose that is against God or his Commandments; it hurts our relationship with God and other people. Ten Commandments 05.02 The laws God gave to Moses to guide us in living as God's children.
