MARCH 2012 Bella Vista Baptist Church Phone: (479) 855-3748 Fax: (479) 855-3740 Prayer Room: (479) 855-6644 E-mail: staff@bvbaptist.com www.bvbaptist.com Something to Think About This week I received a letter from the Executive Director of the A r ka n sa s Ba pt i s t St a t e Convention. Writing to the church as a whole he said, Dear Partners in Ministry, I count it a great joy to serve alongside you and all Arkansas Baptists as we seek to join together to carry the Good News of Jesus Christ to the people of Arkansas, the United States and the World...I wanted to personally thank you and the people of your church for your faithful and generous gifts t hrough the Cooperat iv e Program, which God used to change many lives over the course of the last year. Together as Southern Baptists in Arkansas we have been able to accomplish so much more than any of us as individuals or even a whole church could accomplish. Together we operate Ouachita and Williams Baptist Universities where we are educating 2,139 students. Thirty percent of them are preparing for missions or other vocational ministries. We planted thirty new churches to he lp be t t e r r e ac h t he ir communities. We operate the Arkansas Baptist Assembly in Siloam Springs where 3,644 participated in camps. Of those at camp last year, 259 made professions of faith, 170 made rededications, and 22 surrendered to fulltime Christian service. Together we cared for 335 children in Arkansas Baptist Children s Homes. 42 of those children made professions of faith last year. In addition to this we provided more than 2,000 counseling sessions for families and individuals. As Arkansas Baptists we fed 243,693 individuals through hunger and disaster relief ministr ie s. Through those same ministries we saw 300 people come to faith in Christ! by Pastor Michael McCauley As Arkansas Baptists we have a ministry presence on 35 college campuses. On those campuses over 1,500 students are involved in small groups and 266 have made professions of faith. This is just a sampling of what God has done through us as Arkansas Baptists this past year within the state of Arkansas. Outside our state borders we help provide for over 10,000 missionaries who are actively sharing the Gospel both around the country and around the world. I am both encouraged and excited about what God is doing through us as Baptists in Arkansas. I am challenged to prayerfully ask God what more we can do. What part are we to play as Bella Vista Baptist Church? What role do we have as individuals? It s Something to Think About.Pastor Mike

Page 2 Bella Vista Baptist Church Jonah Bauer, Interim Youth Director On Wednesdays this month we will be exploring God s Word for Truth about our youth s role in God s church. We will address four questions: Should I care about old church traditions? Why do I need the church? How is the church supposed to work? Does my church need me? Normal is Not Enough. What Jesus did on the cross was not normal. We, as His followers, should not be normal as well. Our God uses average people and makes them not normal. He makes them greater than they can be by themselves. We are excited to attend Acquire the Fire d i s c i p l e s h i p w e e k e n d conference this month where the theme is Normal is Not Enough. H e a t h e r Monk is not n o r m a l. She has opened her home to a teen girl s discipleship group on Thursdays at 6pm. Girls and their mothers are welcome to come for meal and fellowship followed by a look into books written by great Christian authors. The first book being studied is God Girl by Hayley DiMarco. Shelia Swink and Angie Caster are not normal. They are inspiring our teen girls with Cooking for a Cause. They will be teaching a life skill while serving the community. Thank you to all of our youth volunteers who are not normal. Thank you for standing up for Christ and standing up for our Youth. I am here to serve the youth and their parents. Contact me at jbauer@bvbaptist.com.

Phone: (479) 855-3748 Fax: (479) 855-3740 Page 3 Thank you to everyone who came out to help with Feed My Starving Children. We had 70 people respond to the call and we helped pack a few of the 200,000 meals that will be sent to Africa. It is amazing what can be accomplished for the Kingdom in a few short hours. Thank you so much!!! What we are learning this month: In Children s Worship: Virtue: CONVICTION Standing up for what s right even when others don t. Verse: 2 Thes. 3:13. In Sunday School: Theme: The Prophets. Application: by seeing God at work in other s lives, I can worship and obey Him. VBS Sign up to volunteer for Vacation Bible School at the Welcome Center. The dates are June 24-29th. There are a lot of spots left, so let us know where you feel led to serve and we will do our best to accommodate. This will be a fun year. They were a tremendous source of blessing to us. Especially heartwarming and unforgettable was the presence of so many who came out in bitter weather to honor Bob at the service at Bella Vista Cemetery. What a homegoing party! My heartfelt thanks to each one of you. It has been a great encouragement to know that you were always with us and that were praying for us. We have been blessed far beyond anything we could ever imagine. We are grateful. ~ Mary Ellen Brundle Dear Church, Your kind support to my parents has meant so much to our family. Page 6 AWANA Truth and Training Club takes First Place at Bible Quiz! Bella Vista Baptist Church Our AWANA T and T Club did AMAZINGLY well at this year s Bible Quiz! It takes a lot of time and hard work to memorize these Scriptures and the pressure is on during Bible Quiz competition. When you see these children (and their parents) around church be sure to tell them how proud you are of them and of how well they represented our church. The amazing children who were on Quiz teams for BVBC were: Kassidy Bauer, Chloe Botts, Heather Angus, Alicia Sanchez, Sidney Thomas, Matthew Heriaud, Hayley Moretto, Dakota Monk, Sophia Biondolillo, Jade Monk, Sarah Withers, Rachel Price, Jared Clark, Brooke Angus. No success is possible without the support of others so, we d like to acknowledge the important people behind the scenes...a very special thank you to all of the AWANA Listeners who work with these children each Wednesday night, the AWANA T and T Directors (Paul Price and Stacy Wharry), the Leaders and LITs who work faithfully with these children, the Bible Quiz coaches (Nora Price and Nancy Merrell), our AWANA Commander (Eric Francis) who pulls our team together and strengthens our leaders, and especially to the parents who consistently and faithfully bring their children to AWANA and work with them at home to memorize God s Word. BVBC children are the best! Every ministry takes dedicated volunteers to help it grow. If you d like to know more about being involved in children s ministry, please contact the office so we can help you find a place to serve. We strive for a safe and healthy environment for education.
