September 2, 2018 CHILDREN S CHURCH SEPTEMBER 2018 LESSON PLAN 1. I Am Fishers of Men The children will have 30 seconds to use a fishing rod made of a stick, string, and Velcro. They will have to get the balls with Velcro on them from one container to the other. The number of balls they are able to get in the container is the number of I ams they will say. e. We will separate the children into three or four teams. The power verse words will be written on small paper fish cutouts. The children will sit in a circle and the fish will be scattered in the middle of them. The children will have to put a fish in a bucket using only a straw to receive their power verse word. September 9, 2018 1. I am Pass the Fruit The children will sit in a circle and pass fruit around (2 apples, 2 oranges, 2 bananas) while music is playing. The helper will have a bag with index cards saying apples, oranges, or bananas and will pull a card and say what fruit is on it. The children that have the fruit that is called out will say an I am and then the game will be continued. Jesus is waiting for the precious fruit of the earth to be saved. Brother Terrick 2. The Bible says Jesus is waiting for the precious fruit of the earth. i. What is the fruit of the earth? A. People, hearts. B. Lost people, sinners. ii. Notice that Jesus called the lost precious. iii. We need to see the lost the same way Jesus does if we want to win the lost. 9. Power Verse a. September 16, 2018 1. I am Coin Toss We will have buckets or boxes with fresh oil written on them. The children will have 20 seconds to toss as many coins in as they can. The number of coins they make in is the number of I ams they will say with three being the maximum. One reason for the Holy Ghost is to empower us to be witnesses. f. The Holy Ghost power makes us come out of our shell and be bold. g. It also makes us do things we could not or would not do on our own. h. Apostle Peter is changed. i. Before Pentecost Peter denied the Lord three times. ii. After Pentecost Peter stood and preached to thousands. iii. The result was 3,000 people were saved. iv. Peter preached again in Acts 3, and 5,000 were saved. 9. Power Verse a. Choose a child to answer, if they need help, they have to say an I am to give the question to the next person. e. We will separate the children into three or four teams. We will have a starting line and a turn-around line. Halfway between the lines we will place one egg carton (lid removed) for each team. We will place a bowl containing enough pennies for each player at the turn-around line. One player from each team will race to the bowl, pick up one penny, run to the egg carton, hold the penny waist high, and drop it into one of the egg carton cups. The child will receive a power verse word when they successfully drop the penny into the cup. Once all of the children have gone once, the children will work together to put the power verse in order. We will talk to the children about the steps we can take to keep our fire burning. c. We will compare it to keeping matches lit. d. We will have a cup of water nearby to put everything out. e. We will show how matches do not stay lit very long. f. A fire stick (the ones used to light fireworks), however, is always hot and lasts a very long time. g. It can be used to light many matches and spread fire. h. When we keep our fire burning, we can spread the fire of God to everyone we meet, see, or know. 12. Review Lesson 13.
