Pastor Mitch will be leading an Inquirers Class for anyone who would like to learn more about the Lutheran expression of Christianity and how we live that out here at Resurrection Lutheran Church. There will be an opportunity at the end of the class for those who desire to become formal members of RLC. The Inquirers Class will take place during the Discipleship Hour (9:30 am) September 9, 16 and October 7, 14, 21. College Students we want to stay in touch! News + Events (cont.) Birthday Lunch Bunch is attending Ertel Winery in Batesville for lunch Thursday, September 6. We leave the church at 10:45 am. If you need a ride, Kay Stepp and Linda Birdcell will be driving. This is a group for retired women who enjoy meeting once a month to socialize and to celebrate birthdays. Scott Poore (Scott.Poore@Thrivent.com) and Wendy Messer (wwmesser@att.net) will each be launching a new ChristCare Small Group in the coming weeks. FREE Weekly Yoga: Join the Healthy Living Ministry for free yoga each Thursday in Resurrection Hall! A 9:15 am Chair Yoga class is suitable for anyone with physical limitations, but open to all. This low/no impact class is slow and gentle. We encourage you to move and stretch while listening to your own body's limitations. The 6 pm class, while designed for more able-bodied folks, is gentle enough for everyone! Each class is 50-60 minutes in length and taught by a certified yoga instructor. Mats and other props are generously provided by Thrivent Action Grants. Join our growing classes for fun, fellowship and to give well deserved attention to the body God gave you! Please arrive ten minutes prior to class start time to get your mat and props situated. Food Pantry Ministry is collecting donations for Hunger Inc. in Perry Township this month: September 2: cereals, juices; pasta and lgw rice September 9: toilet paper, toiletries, diapers; pasta and lgw rice September 16: canned vegetables and fruits; pasta and lgw rice September 23: canned meats and soups; pasta and lgw rice September 30: pasta sauce, canned dinners; pasta and lgw rice Yellow Connect Card 1. Adult Progressive Dinner Sunday, September 16. The Fellowship Group is sponsoring an Adult Progressive Dinner. Cost is $5.00 per person. At 2:30 we will begin the appetizer portion of the meal at someone s home and then proceed to another home by 4:00 for the salad portion. At 5:30 everyone will meet at the church for a catered chicken dinner followed by coffee and dessert. Permission has been granted to bring your own wine to enjoy during dinner if you would like. Entertainment to end our evening. Volunteers needed for use of their home for appetizers or salads. Volunteer homes will be assigned a manageable number of people to serve. Sign up in the Narthex or on the Connect Card as we will need a head count. You will be notified as to which homes you will progress to. We hope you can attend! Friday night free community meals is celebrating 4 years of continuous service Friday, October 5. We will be celebrating our achievement, enjoying a meal, and contributing ideals and soliciting volunteers for the upcoming year. Looking ahead to our 5th anniversary, we are looking for new ideas and new volunteers. The commitment is usually one Friday per month and we need help in various roles that allow most people to serve in a way that is most comfortable for them. There are also ways to contribute outside the direct meal. We have a table in the Narthex with signup and volunteers to help answer your questions. 3. Join the Fellowship Team at our next event at the Historic Artcraft Theater in Franklin for a showing of the Halloween classic Hocus Pocus. This family friendly event will be on Friday, October 19th, starting at 7:30 pm. (but get there early to beat the line for popcorn!) Tickets must be purchased in advance and will sell out, so don't wait to sign up! Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for 55+, and $3 for children under 12.
