LOVE your neighbor as yourself.

Moving Into The Neighborhood The story of God, the story of the incarnation, and the true story of the Kingdom is being played out right where you live. This well reflects the heart of our mission: The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. John 1:14, msg We long to see workers for the Kingdom next door to everyone who are partnering with God and others to transform families, neighborhoods, and communities across America We are deeply committed to helping everyday people love their neighbors and communicate the Good News through life and word right where they live. We believe in the importance of People and of Place. We believe God transforms both individuals and communities. We are passionate about nurturing people who flourish in generational fruitfulness right where God has planted them. Let us know how we can come alongside you as you pursue Christ into your neighborhood. Let s work together and trust God for a movement of everyday people who live out Christ s redemptive story. Al Engler Nav Neighbors Director

Nav Neighbors Leadership Initiative This is an invitation to audacity to believe that the Gospel is transformative today, and that God s Spirit is at work in the particularity and uniqueness of our neighborhoods. The Nav Neighbors Leadership Initiative is your invitation to develop the practices and partnerships you need for joining in on what God is doing in the place where you live! Our vision sees everyday people rooted incarnationally in their local context. But the journey is complex, the transition challenging, and the experienced guides are few. Training rarely equips leaders with the skills to investigate the uniqueness of God s work within particular communities and within our own personal stories. Without like-minded practitioners to inspire and support them, these leaders often feel adrift and alone. Nav Neighbors and Parish Collective a like-minded, like-hearted nonprofit based in the Pacific Northwest have partnered to develop a process for equipping leaders to boldly follow God into their neighborhoods. This practical training includes: Field visits to enhance the understanding of the neighborhood context Small group interaction focused on sharing personal stories and experiences Think-tank sessions with storyboarding exercises Connection to other practitioner events outside the Nav Neighbors Leadership Initiative www.navneighbors.org

Mobile Alongsider Visits Mobile Alongsiders are experienced Nav Neighbors practitioners who are committed to seeing Gospel transformation in neighborhoods outside of their area. These men and women are friends and fellow travelers who will walk the ground of the neighborhood with you, pray with you, and help you seek to live out the Gospel in your place. You can expect Mobile Alongsiders to understand that you are the expert on your neighborhood. They ask questions, listen, tell stories, and connect you to a network of others who are committed to seeing neighborhoods flourish. Mobile Alongsiders are equipped to help you seek the Kingdom of God in your place. Would you like to have a Mobile Alongsider walk with you in your neighborhood? Visit the Nav Neighbors website to read more about our work, and see Contact Us Today at the end of this brochure to connect with us about having a Nav Neighbors Mobile Alongsider visit you! www.navneighbors.org

Nav Neighbors Resources In partnership with NavPress, the publishing arm of The Navigators, we offer a number of relevant resources to help you grow in your neighborhood practices and rhythms. Staying Is the New Going Alan Briggs For too long we ve outsourced God s work in the world to missionaries out there at the ends of the earth. In reality, God wants us to love our neighbor right next door. He wants us to pray for the welfare of our ZIP code, to witness to the world outside our window. Surprise the World Michael Frost Integrating the five habits in the BELLS model Bless others, Eat together, Listen to the Spirit, Learn Christ, and understand yourself as Sent by God into others lives will help you spread the Gospel organically, graciously, and surprisingly. Five Traits of a Christ-Follower Doug Nuenke Spend a month with a master class of disciplemakers, and find yourself growing in your capacity and your enthusiasm for following Christ. Living Proof The Insider Jim Petersen Mike Shamy & Jim Petersen Learn how to develop relationships with the unreached, model the Christian message, and naturally present the Bible s claims in a nonthreatening manner. Evangelism is not just for the gifted few; it s for all of us. The Insider will give you the awareness and skills needed to share your faith and deepen your outreach to others.

What Others Say About Nav Neighbors I m simply astounded with the potential of Nav Neighbors. Can you imagine hundreds of leaders all over the USA that are relationally connecting their neighbors to one another and to God s work in their area? It s happening already! Thank God for this new initiative of the Navigators. Nav Neighbors is trying to help us all practice to incarnate in our gritty, day-to-day lives among the real people with whom we live, work, and play what it is that we are also called to preach: that God has fleshed Himself out in Jesus Christ, in order to love and redeem people from every nation. Tim Soerens, The Parish Collective Connally Gilliam, author of Revelations of a Single Woman: Loving the Life I Didn t Expect www.navneighbors.org There is a quiet movement afoot. It is unfolding block by block, in rural, urban, and suburban communities around North America. And Nav Neighbors is right in the middle of it. Nav Neighbors is encouraging and equipping Christians to follow Jesus into the neighborhood, and to embody the Gospel there by developing deep, transformative relationships with neighbors. John Pattison, coauthor of Slow Church: Cultivating Community in the Patient Way of Jesus I am so thankful and encouraged to see the Navigators jumping into the missional community movement with both feet! Their disciplined and rigorous approach to spiritual formation is a welcomed and much-needed contribution to this divine movement and we are honored to partner with them. Rob Yackley, creator of Thresholds and NieuCommunities, and co-author of Thin Places, Six Postures for Creating and Practicing Missional Community Nav Neighbors is giving me hope for the future of the Gospel. Imagine... in a world spinning faster and faster, here is a growing collective of wise leaders who have slowed down to become a lifegiving presence in the everyday context of the neighborhood. Isn t this what is needed right now mature followers of Jesus bearing witness to God s love as they weave a fabric of love and care right where they live? Paul Sparks, Co-Founder & Director Parish Collective

We envision a movement of ordinary people who embrace the neighborhoods where they have been planted. We believe it s natural to serve family, friends, and people who live near with the love of Jesus. Daily life and ministry becomes less complicated when it s local. It is a move toward simplicity. We want to help! If you would like more information on how to get involved, visit www.navneighbors.org or contact us at navneighbors@navigators.org. Contact us today!
