St. Paul Lutheran Church and School Bonduel, Wisconsin May 5/6, 2018 The Sixth Sunday of Easter T T T Opening Hymn 908 Lord, Open Now My Heart to Hear Invocation In the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Confession and Absolution Because the crucified Christ is risen from the dead, we approach Him, prepared to confess our sins, absolutely assured of His forgiveness. Most merciful God and Father, we confess that we are weak and sinful by our nature and actions. We daily sin against You and against others. We fear, love, and trust in many things, rather than placing all of our fear, love, and trust in You alone. We deserve your punishment. But the tomb is empty! Christ is risen! Jesus has taken into Himself the punishment of sin, and He has defeated death and the devil. For His sake, we pray, dear Father, forgive us, renew us, and guide us, so that we may delight in Your will and follow Your ways to the glory of Your holy name. Amen. Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you, and He is indeed risen from the dead! For His sake God forgives you all your sins. As a called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His authority, I therefore forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Hymn 526 You Are the Way; through You Alone Epistle Reading 1 John 5:1 8 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. 4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 6 This is he who came by water and blood Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three that testify: 8 the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree. This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Song 7:00pm O Jesus, King of Glory The Holy Gospel The Holy Gospel according to St. John the fifteenth chapter. Glory to You, O Lord. [Jesus said:] As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father s commandments and abide in his love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. 12 This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lays down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. 17 These things I command you, so that you will love one another. This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to You, O Christ. Hymn 571 God Loved the World So That He Gave

Sermon Offering A Father s Love Please complete the friendship register found on the end of each pew. The Blessing of the Fields Praise the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty. He waters the mountains from His upper chambers; The earth is satisfied by the fruit of His work. He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate, bringing forth food from the earth, Wine that gladdens the heart of man, oil to make his face shine, and bread that sustains his heart. The trees of the Lord are well watered, the cedars of Lebanon that He planted. Then man goes out to his work, to his labor until evening. How many are Your works, O Lord! In wisdom You made them all; the earth is full of Your creatures. Let us pray: Almighty God, only by God s grace for Jesus sake do we enjoy the blessings of this earth. Thank You for making the earth fruitful, so that it might produce what is needed for life. Bless the fields and those who work to bring them to harvest. Give us seasonable weather, and grant that we may all share the fruits of the earth, rejoicing in Your goodness, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. Prayer of the Church The Service of the Sacrament Note for those desiring to commune Our practice of close communion is the Biblical and historic practice of the Christian church. It is prompted by love, both for God s Word and for His people since it seeks to prevent spiritual damage to those who do not recognize the true body and blood of Christ in, with, and under the bread and wine in this Holy Supper (1 Corinthians 11:29). Furthermore, it does not deny that members of other denominations are Christians. Rather, it bows the knee to the Bible s deep concern for doctrinal truth (Romans 16:17) and the Bible s witness that the Lord s Supper is the highest expression of fellowship and doctrinal unity (Acts 2:42). For this reason, guests who are not a member of a sister LCMS congregation are asked to speak to our pastor before communing.

Preface The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give Him thanks and praise. Lord, remember us in your kingdom and teach us to pray: Our Father who art in heaven, The Words of our Lord Distribution Hymns 618 602 486 637 Post-Communion Prayer Gracious God, our heavenly Father, You have given us a foretaste of the feast to come in the Holy Supper of Your Son s body and blood. Keep us firm in the true faith throughout our pilgrimage that, on the day of His coming, we may, together with all Your saints, celebrate the marriage feast of the Lamb in His kingdom which has no end; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. Benediction The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and T give you peace. Amen. Teacher News Celebration of Mrs. Reinke and Mrs. Williams service to St. Paul: If you did not hear earlier this year, Mrs. Reinke will be retiring this year after 41 years of service here at St. Paul. We cannot thank her enough for her dedication over those 41 years. She has seen many changes and has served in many positions here at St. Paul. We would like to take time to recognize her at the 8:00am church service on May 20. There will be a card box for anyone that would like to offer a personal thank you. At that same service we will be recognizing Mrs. Williams for her service at St. Paul as she accepted a Call to Pilgrim Lutheran in Green Bay. She has served St. Paul for 13 years and with Mrs. Reinke will be recognized on May 20 at the 8:00am service. There will also be a card box for Mrs. Williams where you can offer a personal thank. Miss Candis Zills (graduate from CUW) has accepted the third grade teaching position, following Mrs. Reinke. She will be graduating this spring and will be joining the faculty in the fall.
