Purpose Statement As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society and the world. First Lutheran Women Mission Statement To mobilize women to act Boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ. Resources available: The Communicator, the newsletter of the SW MN Synod Women of the ELCA Website - swmnelca.org Information available on the womenoftheelca.org website for the following- Boldcafe (boldcafe.org), Café, an on-line magazine, shares stories written by bold young women who write about faith, relationships, advocacy and more. Readers and writers of Café include pastors, seminary and college students, and other young adult women who use Café as a Bible study resource individually or with a group. Although many women in their 20s and 30s contribute in every issue, Café can be used and shared by women of all ages. bold connections, the monthly e-newsletter that features the latest news and information about Women of the ELCA programs and activities. Bold Connections is delivered via e-mail toward the end of the month. Daily Grace is an on-the-go companion for your journey, offering a faith reflection every day. Encounter God s extravagant, boundless and often surprising grace by signing up for a daily email message. Gather, the magazine of Women of the ELCA, offers a mix of articles, theological reflections, devotions and stories of comfort and challenge that help readers grow in faith and engage in ministry and action. Funeral Ministry First Lutheran Church provides funeral support for family members. Christian Care Circle Bible Study members have regular contact with those over 85 and members who are no longer able to join us at worship through cards and visits. Kitchen Kare First Lutheran Women take leadership for maintaining the kitchen and all equipment. Contact Kitchen Co-Chairs for more information. Quilting Ministry Anyone is welcome to participate in the quilting ministry throughout the year. See the calendar for meeting times. Prayer Shawl A prayer shawl can be a great comfort for members who are going through a difficult time. Shawls are crocheted or knitted while saying prayers for the recipient. BOLD WOMEN S Weekend An annual event held in February to highlight the work of First Lutheran Women of all ages. Bible Studies Circle Bible Studies are held monthly and open to anyone. See the calendar for more details. **Along with circle bible studies, First Lutheran offers various other studies throughout the year. Contact the church office for more information. Funeral Lunch Guidelines First Lutheran Women will provide cupcakes, coffee/water, condiments; order additional food; as well as prepare, serve, and complete all tasks involved with serving the lunch. Family will instruct First Lutheran Women on *additional food choices, special requests, and the number expected to serve. The cost of additional food will be an expense covered by the family. All leftover food will be taken by the family. First Lutheran Women, upon request, will make suggestions on additional food choices. First Lutheran Women suggests a donation of $150 for serving the lunch.
