On Tuesday, a mood of festivity descended on the campus as the girls, decked up in bright dresses walked to the Jagannath Niketan, spreading joy, proving it a day of love and concern and making it a special occasion for 37 boys in the orphange. The children were thrilled and our students were greatly delighted to have brought a smile to their forlorn faces. A heart-warming moment as the girls applied tilak, tied the sacred colourful knots (Rakhi) on the wrist of the children and distributed sweets, spent some time playing games with the children. Our students gave a new dimension to the festival.they left with a promise to return and see their smiling faces again. This is an emotional and humanitarian approach towards humanity, which the thread of Rakhi promotes, is indeed quite overwhelming. That s some great learning, beyond bags and books.
ENVIRONMENTAL RAKHI The festival that celebrates the brother-sister bond earned a new meaning in CUTM as the students celebrated Raksha Bandhan in two different ways though the message was one do away with differences among children, bond with all. The girls engaged themselves in a form of Environmental Rakhi. They tied rakhis to saplings and reinforced a folk tradition of eco-friendly treatment of environment and natural resources. The girls made it an example and took a pledge to respect and safeguard the environment.
