WELCOME CSYMA SPIRITUAL ADVISOR AND REPRESENTATIVE TO THE BISHOPS Dear Frends n Chrst, The gatherng of young adults at school level and ther teachers to renew ther lfe n Chrst and the Church s a wonderful ntatve of CSYMA. Over the years I ve seen the CSYMA ntatve grow. I am delghted to encourage schools and Catholc organsatons to thnk serously about ntroducng the wonderful ntatves that come from the genus of CSYMA. When young people speak to young people about Jesus Chrst and ther growng love of the Catholc Church t has a very bg mpact for converson n young people s lves. Also the nvolvement of ther teachers as both sponsor and teacher renews ther own personal fath lfe wth Chrst. There are many dfferent programs and ntatves avalable n our Catholc schools to engender fath and trust n God. However, I do feel that CSYMA s not just another one. Its ntatve s totally Australan and ts leaders contnually mprove on ther presentatons from year to year. Havng been personally nvolved wth the CSYMA I have seen great conversons to the Catholc Church and a deeper love of the Catholc Church amongst our young people and teachers. Perhaps ths mght happen wth your school and your staff and students? I encourage you to read carefully what s nvolved n ths booklet and to thnk serously about whether you d lke to respond postvely to the ntatves showcased. Yours sncerely n Chrst, Archbshop Chrstopher Prowse Catholc Archbshop of Canberra and Goulburn

CSYMA System Wde Implementaton CSYMA s Youth Mnstry, Youth Mnsters Internatonal network and the Catholc Leaders Formaton Network together all form a comprehensve approach to evangelsaton. Docese around the country have chosen to mplement all three CSYMA programs system-wde, or across all Catholc schools wthn ther Docese. By mplementng CSYMA system wde, Docese are able to gan the full benefts of the model and engage n an effectve New Evangelsaton strategy. Teachers receve personal formaton and are equpped n leadershp and evangelsaton sklls to mplement Youth Mnstry wthn ther schools. Students are themselves buld a personal relatonshp wth Chrst, both through ther relatonshps wth teachers but also through the retreats, currculum and junor mnstry teams. After school, students may elect to partcpate n the Youth Mnsters Internatonal network, where they receve more formaton and tranng and can mnster to students themselves. Each Docese may roll out the three CSYMA programs n a dfferent manner, and CSYMA wll work extensvely to create a plan that fts nto the strategc drecton of the Docese. Read about the benefts and success that CSYMA has n Docese that mplement the model system-wde. Over the past 12 months our Archdocese n Canberra Goulburn has been nvolved n a system wde mplementaton of the CSYMA 4 phase model. It has seen a new level of connecton between our parshes and schools n the msson of evangelsaton. It has been a great framework to use n engagng our students nto the lfe and msson of the Church. The power of peer to peer wtness across our school system and the ntentonal employment and role of Youth Mnsters both n ther school and ther parsh has seen amazng frut. Another great dmenson of the CSYMA model has been the focus on staff formaton and the opportunty for many of our staff to engage n Porta Fde retreats and n the exctng new course offered at ACU whch s focused on Leadng the New Evangelsaton. We are very blessed and grateful for the frut from last year s endeavours and are excted about the growth and contnued development we wll see ths year and n the years to come. CSYMA model has been a real gft to the Church and our Catholc Educaton system here n Australa. My Journey Through Youth Mnstry Bll Lansky If you asked me 5 years ago f I would work as a Catholc youth mnster, there s no way on earth I could have beleved you. It s so nsanely surreal and crazy to see how much my lfe has changed and flourshed n such a short perod of tme. Growng up, my famly were athests and so I never understood frst hand what havng a fath and a relatonshp wth God was lke. To put t smply, I thought God was rrelevant n my lfe. Hgh School was a massve turnng pont for me. There s no denyng that I struggled wth my dentty whlst tryng to ft n and make new frends n ths unfamlar envronment. But despte these blurred lnes I stll had ths desre to be more and to ultmately have meanng. It was through jonng CSYMA n year 9 where I found my dentty. Through beng apart of CSYMA, I was most defntely pushed out of my comfort zone, I was challenged n my thoughts and actons. But despte all of ths I undoubtedly grew n an understandng of myself, God, and my place n the World. It s been so awesome to be workng back at Mount St Patrck College, Murwllumbah, the place whch changed my lfe for the better!! Journeyng wth students and nurturng ther fath ths year has undoubtedly been challengng at tmes, but so rewardng as well. It has been a blessng beng a Youth Mnster as I have been able to contnue my fath Through beng apart of CSYMA, I was most defntely pushed out of my comfort zone, I was challenged n my thoughts and actons. But despte all of ths I undoubtedly grew n an understandng of myself, God, and my place n the world. journey where t all began. God has unveled so many ncredble opportuntes for me and has taken me on ths crazy journey. Just recently I got the opportunty to travel to Uganda wth CSYMA on msson. Ths was the most awe nsprng experence of my lfe where I was blessed to mmerse myself n a beautful country and encounter so many people who have changed my lfe. Ths opportunty further deepened my love of Jesus as I encountered people who had been faced wth unmagnable challenges, but were so fulflled and content by the love they have for God. If I could summarse one thng I have learnt from my journey through youth mnstry, t would be that despte all the chaos n our lves and n the world that surrounds us, there s peace that exsts wth havng a relatonshp wth Jesus.
