During her eleven year tenure from 2002 through 2013, she was able to increase enrollment, expand the University facilities to include the pedestrian bridge over the St. Joseph River, develop River Crossing Student Housing, as well as facilitate the renovation of the Education and Arts building. The materials in this collection span from 2000 through 2013. The collection includes Reck s application for the Chancellor position at Indiana University South Bend. There are also notes from all campus meetings, Trustee meetings, as well as correspondence for projects such as the Purdue Expansion Area Program, and IU South Bend Pedestrian Bridge. Before her time as Chancellor of IU South Bend, Reck had held positions such as Vice President for Academic Affairs at State University of New York at Fredonia from 1998 to 2002 and Dean of the College of Education at Kutztown University 1991 to 1998. At Appalachian State University, Reck held several positions in the Reich College of Education such as Associate Dean from 1990 to 1991, Assistant Dean for Curriculum, Scholarship, and Publications from 1984 to 1990, and Coordinator of Planning and Curriculum from 1983 to 1984. Reck attended the University of Texas for the first two years of her bachelor s degree majoring in early childhood education and finished her bachelor s degree at the District of Columbia Teachers College in 1968. She received her master s in Reading from the Federal City College in Washington D.C. in 1972. She then received her PhD in Curriculum and Teaching with her cognate area in Anthropology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1978. Scope/Content Note: This collection is organized chronologically within each box. The materials in this collection range from 2000, two years before Reck became Chancellor to 2013, the end of her time as Chancellor. Materials includes Chancellor Reck s application of the position as Chancellor, Higher Learning Commission newsletters, transcripts of speeches at commencements, university correspondence over several of the projects such as the pedestrian bridge over the St. Joseph River, River Crossing Student Housing, renovations of the Education and Arts Building,
