The Revd Dr Richard Treloar will be consecrated a Bishop in the Church of God on Saturday July 21 in St Pauls Cathedral at 10.30am. All welcome. Richard who is currently the Vicar of South Yarra is to be the next Bishop of Gippsland. PLEDGE UPDATE: Since the pledge program was conducted in 2017 a number of existing givers as well as other church goers now wanting to join the program have asked what would be the most convenient and practical way to give. The use of name tags at 8am and 10am services to be discontinued Parish Council considered the use of name tags at its meeting on Tuesday last week in light of the feedback received and decided to discontinue their use. If you want to keep using yours please take it home and bring it along each time. The Welcomers (sidespersons) will have a welcome greeting on a badge with their Christian name only. I am sure there will be people who dislike this change but let s give it a go. Please make the effort to speak to anyone you don t know, they may be a visitor or normally attend at a time you don t. If they need help navigating the prayer book sit with them. Please speak to strangers at morning tea we had feedback from people who have stood alone and felt unwelcome because no one spoke to them. DIOCESAN CODE OF CONDUCT FOR CHILD SAFETY (See parish website: http://www.stgeorgesmalvern.org/bulletins/ code-of-conduct-children) You will be aware that there are now new requirements for parishes as a result of findings by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. Over the next few weeks everyone who is on a roster to take part in church services, welcome (sidespersons) or serve morning tea is required to read the policy and sign a form agreeing to comply with it.
