Our Lord Jesus Christ, as He promised to His apostles and others, has risen to life. He, by dying on the cross, destroyed death and by rising, restored our life. There is no death for those who believe in Him. The Risen Christ is our only hope and salvation world and those who come to Him, will never taste death but be given life everlasting. She was born in 1656 at Osserneon in NY. When she was four years old, a smallpox epidemic killed her patents and her brother, and left her with seriously impaired eyesight and a disfigured face. Inspired by Jesuit missionaries from an early age, Tekakwitha was baptized and assumed the name Kateri, likely in honor of St. Catherine of Siena. She had a strong devotion to the Eucharist and a deep concern for others. she died on April 17, 1680 and was canonized in 2012.
