Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time August 12, 2018 SOLEMNITY OF THE ASSUMPTION of the BLESSED VIRGIN MARY GOD LOVES A CHEERFUL GIVER 2 Corinthians 9:6-7

FROM FATHER PHIL My Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Theresa, The last time I wrote to you was the occasion of the 15th Sunday of the year and the celebration of my fortieth anniversary. I want to thank you for making that weekend extra special. Your good wishes and expressions of gratitude are greatly appreciated. The gathering in the Fellowship Hall after the mass at 10.00 a.m. was magnificent. I want to thank the parish staff and many others that made the occasion joyful and welcoming. Shortly after the anniversary, I left for England, it was the first time that I had been back in four and a half years. Meeting up with friends, sharing food and drinks, telling stories, reminded me of the importance to make time. It was good to reconnect with people that played an important role in my development as a person and as a priest. I sat around a table with a couple whose marriage I had officiated at forty years ago. It is good to be back refreshed and looking to the future. Both of our building projects are coming alive so to speak. I hope and pray that as a parish staff and school, and as parishioners, we will be alert to the needs of our growing community, listening to the voices of others, especially those that have no experience of Jesus and His Church and of those hurt and harmed by it. Continuing to recognize where our source of help is, the Bread of Life, may we be ready for the challenge of protecting the inalienable rights of all God s children, born and unborn. May we realize our freedom to love and live the glorious liberty of the children of God, knowing it as a gift to be shared, especially by those forgotten and abandoned. With every good wish, Fr. Phil Lloyd Pastor Stewardship Actual Budget Actual vs. Budget First Week of August $13,607.20 $21,033.00 (7,425.80) We are thankful for the new cheerful givers and to the givers who have increased their stewardship donations and have inspired others to do the same. During the first week of August we received a $13,500 increase on existing and new donations. Every gift made via the offertory collection, online or automatic withdrawals sustains the ministries, programs and works of our parish. Continue to prayerfully assess your stewardship participation. Help us to continue to serve well through your cheerful giving every Sunday all year long! * Online donations are presented on the last week of each month. GOD LOVES A CHEERFUL GIVER
