USHER MINISTRY OF SAINT JOSEPH S PARISH Being a welcoming community is very important to our Parish. St. Joseph's has a devoted, experienced group of ushers whose aim is to serve and make our Church Masses go as smoothly as possible. We welcome all - especially women and Confirmed: youth - to serve in this ministry. Contact the parish office. Ushers assist in the ministry of hospitality by welcoming the stranger and helping the faithful find seating in the more crowded liturgies. * They assist in the communal action by taking up the collection, recruiting gift bearers to take up the gifts, instructing the faithful who take the gifts to the altar and directing the communion procession when needed. Ushers handle the tasks of hospitality and administration that ensure a dignified flow of the liturgy. Therefore, a sense of cheerful service and good timing are essential to allow for both reverent silence and purposeful action. * Ushers are prepared to get emergency assistance if anyone present should need it. We need to create a contact list of two "Head Ushers" at each weekend liturgy. New parish procedures for collections during mass are being revised. The following updated procedures incorporate additional internal controls, suggested by the Archdiocese, designed to enhance the integrity of the collection at St. Joseph's. FINANCIAL WRONGDOING HOTLINE The Archdiocese of New York takes the stewardship of your donations and its resources seriously. If you have knowledge of financial misconduct or suspect that it might be occurring, please report your concerns via a toll free hotline, at 877-820-0541, or on the internet, at ttp://www.reportlineweb.com/adny. Both are available 24 hours per day. 463 St. Joseph Church Page 5
