Focus on the listening skills of attending, accurate empathy, clarifying and focusing. Use of audio and video. No audit. 10165 PCGR-7420 Death, Dying, & Bereavement Dr. Mary Beth Werdel Tuesday, May 31st- Saturday, June 4th; 10:00AM-4:30PM Focus on integrating theoretical knowledge, ministerial skills and personal experiences in relation to specific topics and issues. Not just how to minister, but how one goes about explaining the meaning of loss, death and grief. 10166 REGR-6188 Religious Education & Human Development Carl Procario-Foley Monday, June 13th- Friday, June 17th; 10:00AM-4:30PM This course examines this question as it explores a religious education perspective to the topic of human growth and development. Students will analyze their own ministry contexts with particular attention to the interface of human development thought and religious education models. The impact of contemporary cultural trends on human development will be explored as they relate to ministerial questions and situations. 10168 SPGR-6746 Franciscan Spirituality Dr. C. Colt Anderson Monday, June 6th- Friday, June 10th; 10:00AM-4:30PM Explores the religious experiences of Francis and Clare from their own writings as well as biographical materials and examines the spiritual teachings that Clare and Francis bequeathed to the religious orders they founded. Special emphasis is placed on the balance they achieved between the contemplative and active lifestyles and on the evangelical values that characterize the Franciscan approach to ministry. Some consideration will be given to representative Franciscan figures who have exemplified the interplay of theology, spirituality and ministry, suggesting outlines of the same for today. 10295 REGR-8123 Imagination: Ministry and Religious Education Dr. Kieran Scott 10296 Monday, June 6th- Friday, June 10th; 10:00AM-4:30PM This course explores the link between the imagination, patterns of church ministry and religious educational activity. The role and power of imagination in disclosing new life and re-visioning our work are examined. A central focus is the critical exploration of the images, metaphors and guiding visions undergirding educational and ministerial work in churches and our public life. Our educational and ministerial task is to create a counter-discourse to the dominant discourse of our time. Particular perspectives (the religious, prophetic, feminist, artistic) are employed as resources for enriching imagination, fostering a counter discourse and cultivating imaginative activity with people. 2 P a g e

Summer A Online: May 23 th to July 8 th 10170 PCGR-6380 Theology of Pastoral Counseling & Spiritual Care Donna Shannon This course addresses theological and spiritual issues in the field of pastoral care and counseling and proposes a theological method for reflecting on these issues. 10172 PCGR-6386 Pastoral Counseling Theory Dr. Cheryl Fisher Faith and ministry of pastoral counseling. The topic will be explored from various perspectives: theology, psychology, education, sociology, and the arts. It will aid those involved in religious education and pastoral ministry to make effective use of the arts in their work. Provides a framework for exploring foundational issues of morality and moral development, including how our understandings of the human person, community, and attitude toward the natural environment shape our moral outlook. Emphasis is placed on enabling religious educators and pastoral ministers to make moral formation an integral dimension of education in Christian faith. 10176 RLGR-6030 Christology TBA This is an introductory Christology course principally from a Roman Catholic perspective. 10800 REGR 6311 Digital Catechesis Dr. Lope Lesigues 10801 REGR 7311 The Digital Catechesis course provides a new social landscape for imagining faith formation and religious education today. This new landscape integrates Pope Francis clarion call for New Evangelization and the worthy potentials of the New Media, to come up with a leadership agenda that offer ways to explore and call into question traditional assumptions and understanding of both the catechetical and the technological. The course s goal is to lead pastoral leaders to viewing digital catechesis as a vital expression of the truly catechetical in contemporary religious context. 10799 RLGR 6024 Prophets Dr. Giovanna Czander A study of Old Testament prophets and prophetic books from a historical, literary, and theological perspective with particular focus on the prophets roles and their enduring message.
