From the South Greetings from the South! September marks the beginning of fall on the 23rd this year. In fact, it is the fall equinox also known as the autumnal equinox. That moment in time when the sun stands directly above the equator and day and night are of approximately equal length. For the Northern Hemisphere, this is the moment when summer ends and fall begins, while for the Southern Hemisphere it is the moment when winter ends and spring begins. Fall has always been a favorite season for me. A time of contentment, perhaps derived from the equal nature of the equinox, a time for reflection and gathering in both physically and mentally. Harvest festivals are all around us symbolizing these feelings. There is a sense that you can almost feel of collecting oneself and preparing for the upcoming seasons and holidays. A revitalization of all our energies to face the new year which will be with us in several months time. Even the weather seems to capture these feelings by refreshing itself through rain and cooler temperatures. As we reflect on the masonic year so far, we have made many new friends as they have entered the vast experience of Freemasonry through the two pillars at the entrance to our lodge. For me the opportunity to sit in the East for the first time has been extremely rewarding and provided growth beyond my expectations. I hope it has for you, as you progress to new challenges, responsibilities, and learn more about masonry. Equally we have seen many cherished brothers, sisters and family pass onward in their journey. All of whom have contributed to the very foundation of whom we are individually, and as a lodge. Now that we ve had time to reflect, its time to think about our vision and as we look to the future I see it is bright. The strong foundation San Diego #35 provides for its members is alive and exciting ideas and initiatives are all around. I am truly thankful for our masonic family and for all the interactions and look forward to sharing our experiences as we move forward. I hope to see you in lodge! I enjoy spending my time at lodge with my brothers, but I am only able to do it because of the love and support from my wife. We owe a lot to our ladies who take care of a host of things, in order for us to go play. When you see one of our ladies around the lodge, I would like to encourage you to not just say hello as you pass by, but tell them thank you for their hard work, so that we can be Masons. Thank you Ladies!
