I believe that Awana can help you provide your children with these necessities through adult-directed games, Scripture memorization, and Spirit-lead Bible teaching. Our goal in Awana is To reach boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. This goal re ects the direction of 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. With your commitment and support, these goals are achievable. I look forward to serving your family through this ministry in the 2018-19 Awana year, and God bless you and your family. We trust that the Lord will work mightily in the heart of each clubber this year. We also pray that they are challenged to not only memorize, but internalize God s word in their hearts during Small Group Time, learn more about God and Jesus during Large Group Time and have fun during Game Time. Your involvement throughout the year is also key to helping your child to learn and pass their sections by working with them and encouraging them each week. We appreciate the opportunity to work with your children as well as your willingness and commitment to have them in the Awana program. Your T&T Directors, Melissa Schwab and Brian Hartzell

8 9 About the Handbook Completing the Sections During the course of the year, clubbers will be working through the Start Zone Entrance Booklet, as well as this year s book, Agents of Grace. There are four steps to completing a handbook section each week Start Here Questions or an activity to help the clubber start thinking about the topic for the week. The Start Zone is divided into 2 sections that thoroughly present the Gospel, and explain how we got our Bible and other Bible basics. The handbook is divided into 4 units that have 8 sections each. By doing one section a week, clubbers will nish their book by the end of the year. Explore Memorize Review A short Bible study or a ll-in-the-blank worksheet. A verse or short passage to memorize. A review of the previous week s memory verse. Start Zone Part 1 The Gospel Part 2 The Bible Silver Extra Credit Clubbers can earn up to four silver emblems and four gold emblems per year. They may be completed anytime throughout the year, but do not count towards completion of the handbook. Continued extra Bible study Gold Extra memory verses or passage Unit 1 Unit 2 Unit 3 Unit 4 Agents of Grace God is...(our Savior, Hope, Advocate) The Bible is...(god s Revelation, God s Inspired Word) Jesus...I Am (the Bread of Life, Light of the World) Agents of...(courage, Humility, Wisdom) The goal is to stay current with these sections so that the clubbers can learn together, and so that the lessons and devotionals will correspond to what they are working on in the handbook. *The date a clubber begins, as well as unavoidable or explained absences can be taken into account for awards and parties. Rewards and Incentives Mid-year Plateau At the halfway point of the year, clubbers who are up to date with their sections will be invited to a plateau celebration. Handbook Party When a clubber completes his/her handbook for the year, they will receive an invitation to the Year End Handbook Party. Handbook Completion Awards Each T&T child that completes a Handbook will also receive a Book Completion award at the Year End Awards Ceremony.

10 11 How You Can Help Behavior and Discipline Policy Tips for the Parents 1. Please be prompt and on time Check-in starts at 6:10 p.m. and Pick up is at 8:15 p.m. 2. Make sure your child wears the uniform shirt to club. Proper display of clubbers awards contributes greatly to their sense of achievement. 3. Help your child prepare for Club each week, learning handbook material at home. Take the time during the week to work with your child on the handbook activities and memory verses. Children often do better in Awana when a parental gure is also interested. 4. Visit club anytime. Your child will be thrilled to have you take part in club activities. 5. Encourage your child each step of the way. Learning is hard work! T&T Club Expenses Uniforms and Books T&T clubbers are required to purchase a shirt and Handbook. Visit the Awana website for optional gear, apparel or gifts. T&T Jersey Uniform T&T Handbook T&T Sling Bag (optional) $17.00 $12.00 $9.00 Please talk to the Commander if the purchase of these items presents a problem for your family. We will do whatever we can to help you. Expectations Clubbers are expected to behave in a manner that is respectful and calm, to help themselves and others get the most out of our program. This means that they should... Be Kind Obey Rules Stay Together The 5 Count Have Fun Listen 1 2 3 4 5 - Used to Get the Group s Attention The leader will count to 5 and when they nish, clubbers should be quiet and ready to listen. The 3 Strikes As in baseball, the Awana Staff uses the 3 strike method to help address individual clubber misbehavior. Strike 1 - A Formal Warning When a clubber continues to act inappropriately after gentle reminders. Strike 2 - Redirect or Make a Change If a clubber continues to create disturbances and disobey leaders after the rst strike is given, the clubber is given a second strike. At this point the leader will redirect behavior and make any environmental changes that need to be made to help the child get back on track (ie. moving clubber to another seat). Strike 3 - Suspension If a clubber fails to correct their behavior and continues to create problems then they will be given a third strike. This will result in an immediate suspension. If a parent or guardian is not available, the child will sit with an approved adult until the end of club. The clubber may be given an opportunity to return to club the following week, but only after the Commander and Director meet with a parent or guardian. If this becomes a recurring problem, additional measures may be discussed between the Director and a parent or guardian. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the club s Director or the Commander.

12 13 Event Nights What is? is a fundraiser that our club participates in every year. Clubbers are encouraged to give to help provide nancial assistance to national and international Awana clubs that cannot afford handbooks, uniforms, and other items needed for an Awana club. For every $10 that is raised, a child will have the chance to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ! Each clubber that brings money during receives an region patch to put on their uniform. What Can You Do? During our fundraiser you can help your clubber by encouraging them to perform home activities like extra chores to earn money. Throughout the Awana year our club will have special theme or event nights that everyone can participate in, leaders and parents included! These nights are all about fun, so participation is not required but highly suggested! Silly Sock Night Have a pair of silly socks hiding in your drawer? This is the night to pull them out! Neon Night Wear white or other bright colors to play games in our black lights! Christmas Sweater Night It s the holidays, so pull out the sweaters for our Christmas party! Sports Night Show your team pride by wearing your favorite sports gear! Crazy Hair Night Anything goes with your do tonight! What is Pie Night?
