As we write this, Christmas is just 20 days away. The Christmas tree has been up and outside decorations are out. A lot of cookies baked. But still have a lot of shopping to do. The fall has been great and all are in good health. Our camping for 2015 is over and it was a busy year! And 2016 looks to be another busy year as we are planning to go to our first Retiree Rally in March at Houma, La. Hope many of you are planning on going as well to help support our State Directors, Dal and Barb Dodson, are running for Missouri as the International Retiree King and Queen. And they would enjoy having our support. We will also be there for the early days to enjoy the southern hospitality. Start making your plans for our International Campvention July 25-29 in Shawnee, OK. A lot of our FCRV members have put many hours of their time into making this a success. Read your Camping Today for all the information and activities. Then fill out the registration form. Remember Message From the President the first 380 will be guaranteed full hookups! Don't forget our Spring campout in April at Arrowhead Point near Collins, MO. This is a new campground for us and we are disappointed that we won't be able to camp as we will need to return home Saturday night because our grandson, Austin s Confirmation will be the following Sunday morning. The best way Paul can keep up with Chapter news and campouts is for us to give him the information. He will be glad to post it for you! An activity can only be used in one category. Select the best category for the activity. A brief description of what each category includes: (Number in parentheses signifies points that can be earned by the description which is contained in the report.) SELF-PROPELLED CAMPING (1-5) List the activities in this area in which the chapter has participated. Include the activity, mileage tabs earned, and number of chapter members participating. We may be retired but we're not old, we have just had a few more birthdays. In September we completed our 2016 camping schedule and it is on the MSCA web site at fcrvmsca.shutterfly.com. Look us up and come enjoy our hospitality. We may be retired but we have a lot of fun! Our president, Pat Crow, doesn't let grass grow under our feet as it seems like we are doing something during our campouts all the time. She plans games, meals, giving to the needy, collecting for our 4 legged friends, and visiting local places of interest. Our first campout will be in April following our MSCA Spring campout. Missouri Camper July through December 2015 Page 9 Missouri State Campers Association Minutes of Annual Membership Meeting Lazy Day Campground 214 Highway J Danville, MO 63361 September 12, 2015 On Saturday, September 12, 2015, the Annual Meeting of the Missouri State Campers Association was held in the clubhouse at the Lazy Days RV Park, Danville, Missouri. President Mike Croxton called the meeting to order and a quorum was declared. Mike stated that the purpose of this meeting is to elect officers for 2015-2016, and called on the Nominating Committee to present the committee s nominations. The proposed slate of officers is as follows: President Mike Croxton 1st Vice President Carl and Karen Murphy 2nd Vice President Paul and Beth Standiford Secretary Treasurer Edie Hensley President Croxton called for nominations from the floor three separate times. None were presented. President Croxton then asked for a motion. There being no further nominations, motion was made by Don Hensley that nominations cease and the nominated slate becomes the elected officers for 2015-2016. Alan Bahl seconded the motion. By a show of hands all were in favor. There were no oppositions. So moved. The MSCA 2015-2016 duly elected officers are: President Mike Croxton 1st Vice President Carl and Karen Murphy 2nd Vice President Paul and Beth Standiford Secretary Treasurer Edie Hensley President Mike Croxton then moved on to determining where to camp next year. Carthage Big Red Barn was contacted. April was open at this time. Rate is $32.00 per night including the rally barn. Early arrivals get 30% military discount. They want prepayment two weeks in advance. We would be given five sites by the barn. Four of them are back in sites. Only 30 amp available. These five must be used in order to get the rally barn free. Pat Crow checked with Cozy Corner but they only have 15 sites at the rate of $30.00 per night. Osage Beach is available April 29 th and all of May and in the fall, September 9 th, the rate is $26.00 per night. Mar Croxton checked with Lazy Day. April and May are open except for May 14 th weekend and September is open except for the weekend of the 15 th. Leslie Ploeger checked with Arrowhead Point the rate is $22.00 per night for 30 amp and $27.50 for 50 amp. There is a Texas decorated clubhouse for up to 50 people but that would make it a bit crowded. They are currently open the weekends of May 6 th and 13 th and September 2 nd, 9 th and 16 th. There is a lake for fishing, a quilt shop and several other to do s in the area. Higginsville was checked again and they have April 15 th or 29 th and all of May open at this time for $27.00 per night. The kitchen would also still be available. A discussion occurred. It was reminded that for most of us the next planning trip to Shawnee, Oklahoma was the weekend of April 15 th. May 8 th is Mother s Day. Alan Bahl moved to camp at Arrowhead Point for our Spring Rally. Date still to be determined because April wasn t checked for availability. Sharlene Miller seconded. All approved. Motion carried. Mar Croxton moved to come back to Lazy Day September 10 th for our Fall Rally. John Bigley seconded. All approved. Motion carried. While waiting on April dates, State Director Dal Dodson handed out some MSCA Membership certificates. Donella Wilkes handed out a couple of CAMP certificates from the annual awards because they didn t make it to Campvention. Alan Bahl also announced that the Dodson s have been nominated for FCRV Retiree King and Queen. Alan then moved to provide $200.00 to help with their expenses in promoting and representing Missouri at the upcoming Retiree Rally. All were in favor and motion approved. Pat Crow wanted to inform that the Slow Travelers Chapter has also donated $200.00. We really want Missouri represented. We still are waiting in a response about April dates and it may take a while. Carl Staas moved to adjourn the meeting and we could be informed later today about the camping weekend for next Spring. Paul Standiford seconded. All approved. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned. The campgrounds has a portable screen and will set it up for us to use. thanked them both for taking on the job. State Director s Report Dallas Dodson showed the plaque that the State received at the International Campvention for the most increase in membership during the year. This was due largely to the St. Louis RV Show and several individuals involved in recruiting these new members. Thank you very much! Dallas then reported that our 2016 Campvention was moving along well. Still needed volunteers for positions, so get in touch with him or Debbie Ludwig and we can let you know where help is needed. Regional Director s Report Debbie Ludwig was not in attendance this weekend, no report. Membership Director no officer at this time, no report. Legislation no chairman, no report. Historian no chairman, no report. Conservation no chairman, no report. Wildlife no chairman, no report. Youth no chairman, no report. Teens no chairman, no report. DASAT no chairman, no report. Campers Actively Moving Program (CAMP) Explained the program to the new members about how it works and that a route around the perimeter of the campground here counts as a mile. Awards no chairman, no report. Patty Hansen Scholarship Fund Luella Sprague that there is currently $1,638.56 in the checking account and the CD is valued at $6,537.00. There was an interest payment of $16.32. Luella then explained the history and purpose of the Fund to the membership. National Patches -- Edie Hensley has FCRV patches, stickers and items for sale. Please see her after the meeting if interested. Chaplain no chairman, no report. Sunshine Luella Sprague said she has sent four cards since April. Edie Hensley commented on the very nice card sent to Don when he was recently ill. Luella had put a tractor on it which appropriately represented Don s love of tractor pulling. Ways and Means explained that we have been saving Best
Missouri Camper July through December 2015 Page 11 Choice UPC s and that for the first 1,000 we get $60.00 from Associated Wholesale Grocer s and another $30.00 for every 1,000 after the first. These are turned in each year, and we have been able to get 1,000 each year the last several years, but this year was going to probably be short and we won t be able to earn anything. We are also collecting pop can tabs. These are taken each year to the International Campvention and proceeds go to the local Ronald McDonald House Charities in the local area. President Mike Croxton reminded everyone about the donations to the local Food Bank. We have to be to the church by 10AM Sunday. Mike said we are also taking donations for the Senior Center to help with meals for the shut-ins. The local chicken dinner for the public tomorrow (Sunday) also helps them as well. The meal is wonderful and worth the $10 per person. Luella Sprague reported that the St. Louis RV show is January 14 thru 17, 2016. She has not yet heard from anyone whether we can still get the booth free. There are no guarantees because the show has changed Directors due to the previous one retiring. Mark your calendars and save the weekend so we are ready when they let us know for sure. OLD BUSINESS President Mike Croxton stated that first we are going to vote on the change in the By- Laws. He read the proposed change as was published in the latest newsletter. A discussion with the new members about how this change came about ensued. This proposed change, if approved, would eliminate the requirement to have three meeting each year, essentially removing the meeting usually held in November each year. Luella Sprague of Pitch N Pull moved to accept the proposed change in the By- Laws. Mar Croxton of Gateway seconded. There was no opposition, so motion carried. Mike Croxton then stated the next old business to discuss was in regards to reimbursement of camping fees for new/prospective members. The recommendation from the Executive Board reads as follows: The MSCA organization will reimburse a second night of the camping fee at a maximum of $30.00 for attendance at their first State campout, to be paid one time only, either as a prospective member (guest), a cadet member, or a new MSCA member. This supersedes any and all previous motions made regarding such reimbursement. Mike Croxton then asked for a motion to accept this new recommendation. Luella Sprague of Pitch N Pull so moved. Don Hensley, Past President, seconded. A discussion occurred. Mar Croxton of Gateway stated that the chapter aspect should remain. Pat Crow of Slow Travelers made her voice know and read the following statement. With the need to increase membership at the forefront of this organization in September 2013 Bob Price moved that MSCA pay for the 2 nd night of camping for a prospective member attending a chapter or state sponsored campout. The sponsoring member would also be reimbursed for the 2 nd night. Maximum reimbursement to be $30.00 for each one time only. This motion was unanimously passed. Myself and others are disappointed that now two years later there is discussion to change this. I urge you to keep this resolution in place as it stands. The new recommendation that the prospective member only be reimbursed only at a state campout seems unreasonable. They may not be able to attend a state campout. A chapter campout is where memberships and friendships begin, and where I feel we get the most bang for our buck in getting and keeping new members. Also the sponsoring member has no doubt worked hard to recruit new members for MSCA and FCRV and this should be taken into consideration. At the 2015 Campvention in Gillette, Wyoming, Missouri and our State Directors Dal and Barb were given the Membership Growth Award. Let s keep this momentum going so that this organization can continue to grow. Please keep the resolution as it now stands. Thank you. Edie Hensley, Treasurer, called the question. This means that there is to be no further discussion of the issue and there is a motion pending a vote. President Mike Croxton read the original motion made by Bob Price in 2013 and approved. He then read the new recommendation once again. A vote was then taken. Two moved to approve the new recommendation and five opposed. Therefore, motion to change denied. NEW BUSINESS Edie Hensley, Treasurer, read a Thank You letter from Marti Price. President Mike Croxton then asked for suggestions on camping sites in May and September 2016. Higginsville will not have a kitchen facility available because the snack bar will be up and running, however they have said this the last couple of years and it hasn t happened yet. Their grounds are available the weekends of the 15 th and 29 th of April and all weekends of May at this time. Member John Bigley asked about camping at Cozy Corner. Alan Bahl then asked why only the delegates get to vote on where we camp when it should be the entire membership. This question was being researched. Since no sites were really researched because this was usually done at the November meeting, a break in the current meeting was provided so that various campgrounds could be contacted. The meeting reconvened after about 15 minutes and not everyone had responded to telephone contacts yet. Higginsville was contacted and the dates are still available and the kitchen would also be available. Barb Dodson suggested Arrowhead Point. Pitch N Pull has camped there and said it should be able to accommodate the group. Alan asked about who could vote and it was found that anyone in the membership could vote. Don Hensley, Past President, moved to adjourn the meeting at this time. Seconded by Darell Thomas, non-affiliate. All approved. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned.
