25 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS 1. Make an Awana plan for the month. Even though you have only two or three weeks of club in December, determine you ll complete five sections. 2. Think of a Christmas gift you can make for your parents. (How about a scrapbook or DVD of favorite family memories? In between events, you could produce commercials about your family.) 3. Club tonight? Say some sections. Smile at your leader. Make friends with a kid you don t know. 4. Plan a way to make money to buy the supplies for your parents present. You could help a relative; entertain a neighbor child while her mom is baking, wrapping presents, or decorating; shovel snow, etc. 5. Learn the first couple verses of Luke 2. 6. Help your mom get the Christmas ornaments out of the attic and then help decorate. 7. Learn (along with your family) something you didn t know about Christ s birth in Bethlehem. (Do you know the shepherds were probably watching sheep being prepared for the temple sacrifices? Do you know the wise men came to a house not the manger?) 8. Count how many Christmas songs you sing in church this Christmas season. Talk with your family about which one is your favorite. Ask each family member for his or her favorite too. 9. Write a thank-you note or email to your teacher. Thank him or her for caring about kids. If your mom (or dad) is your teacher, write her (him) a note too. Tell your teacher something specific you ve learned in the last month. That would be a great present! 10. Have some friends over. Wrap red crepe paper around each other and pretend you re candy canes. (Which means you must be very sweet yeah, guys, even you.) 11. Invite a friend to go to club with you. If you re having a Christmas party, invite him or her to that. 12. Buy or make 10 Christmas cards. Use glitter, photos, paint, etc. 13. Begin making your parents Christmas gift. 14. Go Christmas shopping with Dad or Mom. Buy presents for your siblings and grandparents. 15. Memorize two or three more verses from Luke 2. 16. Send your Christmas cards. Include your grandparents, Awana leader, Sunday school teacher, neighbor, friends, dog, etc. 17. Memorize two or three more verses from Luke 2. 18. Ask a friend to go skating/sledding/ swimming with you. As you re having a great time together, ask him if he knows why we celebrate Christmas. If he doesn t know, explain the true reason. 19. Help Dad or Mom make Christmas cookies. Decorate them in a unique way. Stop! Don t eat them all. Give some to a neighbor. 20. Only five more days. Work with your siblings to do a role play, acting out some part of Luke 2. 21. Wrap those last-minute presents (and don t peek at your presents under the tree). 22. Write a list of at least 10 reasons why Christ s birth, death, and resurrection are important to you. Ask the rest of the people in your family to do the same thing. Share the reasons. Have a family prayer time, thanking God for sending His Son to earth to die for our sins. 23. How much of Luke 2 can you say from memory? Say it to your parents and anyone else who will listen. 24. Ask your parents to light some candles (or a fire in the fireplace), then read the Matthew and Luke accounts of Christ s birth. 25. Merry Christmas! Awana Clubs International.
