Understanding Prophecy Lesson 11-02 Judgment Day and Paradise Regained Part 2 1

White Throne Judgment 2

White Throne Judgment REV 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. The heavens and the earth will be burned up. The material realm will be no more. 3

White Throne Judgment 2PE 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. MAT 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. ISA 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. 4

White Throne Judgment REV 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. (Continued) 5

White Throne Judgment 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. 6

White Throne Judgment All unrighteous will stand before the throne of God to be judged. Those found unworthy without the saving blood of Christ will be cast eternally into the lake of fire. Those who are unsaved will be resurrected in the Second Resurrection, judged, and then cast into the lake of fire, the Second Death. This is the final separation of the lost from God. This Second Resurrection will give the unrighteous new resurrection bodies that will never die. Their torment will be eternal. [31] 7

White Throne Judgment Christ Himself will be the Righteous Judge. JOH 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: 23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. 24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation [judgment]; but is passed from death unto life. 8

White Throne Judgment Those that hear Christ's Word and "believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life," and will not come into judgment, but is passed from death into everlasting life. 9

Paradise Lost 10

Paradise Lost After Adam sinned we find that God drove Adam and Eve from paradise. GEN 3:23 Therefore the LORD God sent him [Adam] forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. 24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. After the Millennium, God will restore paradise for those that are saved. 11

Paradise Regained After The Millennium 12

Paradise Regained After The Millennium Paradise Regained After The Millennium The millennial heaven and earth are connected but yet separate. After the Millennium they will no longer be separate as we will see with the new Jerusalem coming out of heaven to the earth in a merger of heaven and earth. This will not merely be a garden, as in Eden, and not merely an earthly Jerusalem, but the city of God on Earth, more costly and statelier. [57] 13

Eternity New Heaven and Earth 14

Eternity New Heaven and Earth Eternity New Heaven and Earth REV 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. The Millennium is over. God is now preparing eternity. Isaiah speaks of God preparing eternity as follows: ISA 65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. 15

Eternity New Heaven and Earth When Isaiah says that the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind, could it be that we won t even remember loved ones that were lost? Therefore, we won t mourn, because God will wipe away every tear. Rev 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 16

Eternity New Heaven and Earth Other verses confirm that God will make a new heaven and a new earth for our eternal existence. ISA 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. 2PE 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 17

Eternity New Heaven and Earth In Revelation 20:11, we saw that this present earth and the heaven fled away. And, in 2 Peter 3:7-10, we saw that the heavens will pass away with a great noise and the elements will melt. So now, in Revelation 21:1, we see that God is to make a new heaven and a new earth. The description of this new heaven and new earth continues in Revelation 21:2-4. 18

Eternity New Heaven and Earth REV 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 19

Eternity New Heaven and Earth The Church, represented by the new Jerusalem, is prepared as the eternal bride. This describes a scene of perpetual bliss, of the happiness of the bride at her wedding. 20

Eternity New Heaven and Earth Then, in Revelation 21:5-6, we see that God will make all things new, and men will never want for anything again. Therefore, the curse pronounced in the garden is removed. REV 21:5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. 6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 21

The Faithful Will Inherit Paradise Those that are faithful will inherit this new paradise. REV 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 22

The Unfaithful Will Inherit Hell 23

The Unfaithful Will Inherit Hell But, God warns those who are unfaithful with these words: REV 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. 24

The Unfaithful Will Inherit Hell The cowardly are fearful of confessing Christ. "What will my friends think?" The unbelieving rejected the testimony of Jesus Christ. Fearful" and "unbelieving," are first in the list of the unclean things. 25

The New Jerusalem 26

The New Jerusalem REV 21:9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. In Revelation chapters 17 and 18 Babylon is depicted as both a city and a woman. Now, as indicated in Revelation 21:9, we will see Jerusalem depicted as both a city and a woman in the verses that follow. [56] 27

The New Jerusalem The city, Jerusalem, is the bride as well as the home of the Saints. When we speak of Rome we can mean both the city and the Church that dwells there. In this same sense Jerusalem represents a system (the bride) and a city. [56] It will be a place, but the true identity of the city is the Lamb and His bride. [31] 28

The New Jerusalem Jerusalem (the Church) will display the glory of God throughout eternity. [56] REV 21:10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; 29 (Continued)

The New Jerusalem 12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: 30

The New Jerusalem The "wall great and high" indicates separation and protection from evil. [56] "Twelve" signifies governmental perfection. [19; 56; 129] The "gate" in Scripture was a place of judgment. Government will be maintained. [56] Satan will try to copy God's holy city when he has the names of blasphemy written on rebuilt Babylon. Satan s city (a woman) will be decked with gold, precious stones, and pearls as the new 31 Jerusalem will be decked. [31]

The New Jerusalem REV 17:3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: 5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 32

The New Jerusalem The new Jerusalem is to be built on the foundation of the twelve apostles. [56] REV 21:13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. 14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. 33

The New Jerusalem Both Matthew and Paul refer to this foundation: MAT 19:28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 34

The New Jerusalem EPH 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 35

The New Jerusalem The picture of this New Jerusalem, described in Revelation 21:15-16, is of either a pyramid or a cube. [31; 56; 129] REV 21:15 And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof. 16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal. 36

The New Jerusalem Whatever it is it represents "a city of absolute perfection". As we have previously noted, twelve signifies governmental perfection. The symbolism of governmental perfection is in the 12,000 furlongs. [31; 56; 129] 37

The New Jerusalem Now look at the next verse in Revelation 21. REV 21:17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel. One hundred forty four is twelve cubed. Again, the number twelve is prominent. The city is being built on perfection of government. 38

The New Jerusalem The number twelve continues in the description of the city. REV 21:18 And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. 19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; 39 (Continued)

The New Jerusalem 20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst. 40

The New Jerusalem These stones correspond to the stones in the breastplate of the high priest. [56] EXO 28:15 And thou shalt make the breastplate of judgment. 17 And thou shalt set in it settings of stones, even four rows of stones: the first row shall be a sardius, a topaz, and a carbuncle: this shall be the first row. 18 And the second row shall be an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond. 19 And the third row a ligure, an agate, and an amethyst. (Continued) 41

The New Jerusalem 20 And the fourth row a beryl, and an onyx, and a jasper. 21 And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names according to the twelve tribes. 42

The New Jerusalem We continue with the description of the city in Revelation 21:21: REV 21:21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass 22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. 23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. 43

The New Jerusalem Since there is no sin, no temple is needed. As God once dwelt in the earthly temple, the Church shall now dwell in Him. [57] The presence of the Father and the Son will fill and light the city. [31] ISA 60:19 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. (Continued) 44

The New Jerusalem 20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended. JOH 1:4 In him [Jesus] was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. JOH 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. 45

The New Jerusalem The gates of the city will always be open. REV 21:24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. 25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. ISA 60:11 Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought. 46

The New Jerusalem Our needs will be met. REV 22:1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. This pure river of water of life is elsewhere called "living water", symbolizing the Holy Spirit. This water has "life giving qualities that man cannot live without." Our every thirst will be satisfied. [31] 47

The New Jerusalem Jesus spoke of this living water. JOH 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. JOH 7:37 If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (Continued) 48

The New Jerusalem 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) 49

The New Jerusalem The city keeps on giving. REV 22:2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. The fruit of the tree of life brings immortality, and the leaves ensure good health, not simply providing healing. [31; 57; 70] We see the number twelve again. 50

The New Jerusalem There will be no more sickness, and man will be healed in his relationships with others. [31; 57; 70] Finally, Rodney King s wish will be fulfilled, we will all get along. 51

No More Curse 52

No More Curse The curse pronounced in the garden will be removed. REV 22:3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: What was this curse? GEN 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. (Continued) 53

No More Curse 17 And unto Adam he said cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; 18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; 19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. 54

The New Jerusalem There will be no sin in this city. REV 21:26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. 27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life. 55

Seeing God s Face 56

Seeing God s Face We will finally glory in the face of God. REV 22:4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. 57

Seeing God s Face Moses wanted to see God's face. EXO 33:18 And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory. 20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. 22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: 23 [you] shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen. 58

Seeing God s Face Philip also wanted this very thing. JOH 14:8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. 9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? John wrote: 1JO 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like 59 him; for we shall see him as he is.

Seeing God s Face The pure in heart will see God. MAT 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. God's people will be identified as His. REV 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. 60

Revelation is Literal 61

Revelation is Literal The words of Revelation, and of prophecy, are plainly spoken. REV 22:5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. 6 And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done. The reality is that these words are literal and 62 should be taken literally. [31]

Be Alert 63

Be Alert REV 22:7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. All believers should be alert before Christ's return. This is the spirit of evangelism. The greatest revivals were among those who expected the soon return of Jesus Christ. Don t let anyone convince you that the study of prophecy is unimportant. Remember that a third of the Bible is prophecy. 64

Prophecy is Important 65

Prophecy is Important Prophecy is important for these end times. REV 22:8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. 9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God. 10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. 66

Prophecy is Important Daniel was told to seal the prophecy, but John was told to leave it opened. The time is now at hand. "The wise shall understand." 67

Prophecy is Important DAN 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. 9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. 10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand. 68

The Final Invitation 69

The Final Invitation Jesus is coming quickly. REV 22:11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. 12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. (Continued) 70

The Final Invitation 14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. 15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. 16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. (Continued) 71

The Final Invitation 17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. This is the final invitation to unbelievers to taste His salvation. 72

Denying the Message 73

Denying the Message There are those that teach a message of love while denying the message of salvation, the wrath of God, the judgment of God, the Tribulation Period, and hell. They have chosen their own doctrines. They have added or taken away the words of the Scriptures. [31] We are warned about them in the closing verses of Revelation. 74

Denying the Message REV 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. 75

Denying the Message We are told the same thing in the Old Testament as recorded by Moses. Deut 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you. 76

Adding and Taking Away Examples of Adding and Taking Away [31] 1. Jesus is really the Archangel Michael (Jehovah's Witnesses). 2. Hell is really the grave (Jehovah's Witnesses). 3. God, rather than Jesus, was once a mortal human being (Mormons). 4. Worthy humans are going to become gods and goddesses (Mormons). 5. God is a cosmic force, not a personal being (New Age). 6. Eve's sin was a sexual affair with Satan (Moonies). 77

Adding and Taking Away Some denominations want to be politically correct and have rewritten their hymnals and worship materials so as not to offend certain groups. Some have produced politically correct Bibles for the same purpose. These are further examples of adding and taking away. [31] 78
