It will take place Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel at Big Meadows. Feel free to pass the word along to your friends and family that have been married 40+ years. Be sure to RSVP by Thursday, February 7 by calling 815.273.2238. Happy Valentine s Day! Activity Professionals Week was January 20-26. If you see Jaime Zastrow, Activity Director and Patti Whitmer, Activity Aide (and CNA) be sure to let them know they are appreciated. We have a great activity program here at Big Meadows and work hard to brainstorm new ideas throughout the year. Did you know February is National Snack Food month? We will be celebrating with some snack food socials. Welcome to Big Meadows: * Joseph Wilcox * Lola Sterk * Susan Fransen Snowman Craft Some of the residents at Big Meadows enjoyed making a snowman family during craft time on January 14, 2013. These little families can be found on our dining room tables as center pieces throughout the month of January. Pictured with their snowman craft are Wilbert Spencer and Inez Barr.

Savanna's River City Reader Page 3 February Resident of the Month ~Helen Klippert~ A106 Helen was born on July 25, 1923 and grew up in Northern Alberta, Canada. Helen had two brothers Bill and Don, and a sister Elsie. A couple years after graduating high school Helen met Earl Klippert, the love of her life, at a dance hall in Canada in 1944. Earl and Helen got married on July 16, 1947. In 1947 Helen and Earl left Canada and moved to Illinois. They have three sons: Brian living in Illinois, Scott living in Washington and Dean living in Texas. Helen worked at Eaton Corporation in Savanna for 18 years. Helen has many favorites: -Food: any home cooked meal -Flower: any, she grew her own flowers and picked every last one -Music: loved to dance, enjoyed all Big Band music, especially Wayne King -Holiday: Christmas, she loved decorating the house, cooking large meals and being with family -Color: blue (dislikes red) -Hobbies: dancing, bowling, skiing, golfing, roller skating, cooking, traveling and anything else that would be active and fun for the family Helen and Earl will be celebrating their 66 th wedding anniversary this July! Helen has led a wonderful and active life and cherishes her family. We re happy to have her part of our family here at Big Meadows.
