YOUTH GROUP COOKOUT The Youth Group end of the year cookout is coming up on Sunday, June 3rd from 6-8 PM here at the church! All youth and their families are invited to attend as we come together one last time and look back at the past school year. We'll be grilling out for the main course but we encourage you to bring side dishes or desserts if you would like! Celebrate the end of the school year and beginning of the summer together! VBS DONATIONS It takes lots of food and supplies to make our VBS a success. If you would like to help provide supplies please check out the table we have set up in the Lobby. On the table you will find cards indicating items we need. Please choose one (or more) card(s), sign the it out, pick up the supply indicated and return it to the wooden box in the vestibule marked VBS! Thank you for your help! HAYMARKET FOOD PANTRY With the school year coming to an end, we are looking for easy to prepare foods that the kids can eat while parents are working. Here are some ideas: single serve packaged items like apple sauce, fruit cups, & Easy Mac's; protein/breakfast bars, nuts, shelf stable milk. Click here for a more complete list of the needs of the Haymarket Food Pantry.

ATTENTION ALL LOVERS OF SONG AND SINGING On Sunday, June 24 during the 11:00 service, we will feature a SUMMER CHOIR. This Choir will be made up of ALL LOVERS OF SONG & SINGING!! We will sing "The Old Rugged Cross" for the Offertory & "This is My Story, This is My Song" for the Call to Worship. Everyone is Welcome!! No Robes Required! The next New Member Orientation will be held on June 3rd, following the 11:00 service in the Fellowship Hall. New members will join on June 10th during the service they normally attend. You may sign up at the Information Table in the lobby between services. SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER SPOTLIGHT The spotlight is on Ms. Carolyn! Ms. Carolyn teaches our 4th & 5th grade classes at Sunday School. Her birthday is March 2nd. Her favorite bible verse is whatever she happens to be studying at the time. Ms. Carolyn's favorite thing about Sunday School is teaching the Bible to the kids and helping the stories come to life for them. Her favorite candy is Twix. Her hobbies include coaching and playing softball. If you see Ms. Carolyn be sure to say Hi! SMALL GROUPS MINISTRY HIGHLIGHTS Adult volleyball will be held on the lawn on Sundays from 4-5:30 p.m. Childcare will be provided! Summer Bible Study is coming soon, open to all adults. More information to come! Our Softball Team's are playing for miracles! Every win this season raises awareness and donations to support The Miracle Project and GUMC Missions. (Current W-L is 12-4) For more information on these and other small groups please EmailSmallGroups@GUMChurch.com GRADUATION RECOGNITION If you have a 2018 High School or College graduate, please email the office with their name and school. Graduates will be recognized on Sunday, June 10th

FELLOWSHIP HALL DOORS The Board of Trustees recently changed the set of doors to the Fellowship Hall that are closest to our front doors. This new type of door will stay open once pushed open BUT they do not close automatically. This was done to be more handicap accessible and to help with deliveries of food for fellowship and Feeding Friends. While very helpful, this new style of door is causing an issue - the doors are being left open. If you use these doors, please make sure that they are closing prior to leaving the premises. Thank you! SERMON SERIES We are continuing a five-week sermon series this Sunday called The Fruit of the Spirit: Signs of Spiritual Growth. We are looking at the nine fruits of the spirit from Galatians 5:22-23, and learning together how those fruits are not meant to be things we check-off a list, but rather are signs of spiritual growth and maturity that result from lives that are lived in step with Jesus Christ. We hope you will join us! Readings for Sunday May 27, 2018 Click on the scripture to view. Scripture: Philippians 4:4-7 Sermon Scripture: Galatians 5:22-23 Luke 14:7-15 ALTAR FLOWERS AND SPECIAL MUSIC The flowers on the altar are given to the glory of God in celebration of Sean and Robin Gundry s 10th wedding anniversary. A special note of thanks to Nadia & Michael Pieterse, and the Chancel Choir for the special music on Sunday. FEEDING FRIENDS With the warmer weather upon us, our friends are drinking more water, so cases of water would be appreciated. Other needs are boots, jeans, shorts, t-shirts, sunscreen, bug spray or bug repellent bracelets, wipes, new underwear, C and D batteries, tents, and large tarps. If you are interested in helping prepare meals or delivering to the camps, please send an e-mail to nextflightann@yahoo.com
