Yoga Study & Practice We invite you to join us in an exploration of the profoundly transformative art & science that is YOGA. - creates opportunities for us to learn about ourselves - supports us in our daily lives - brings together people from all walks of life - transforms knowledge into understanding - developing theory, deepens experience Anatomy of Asana - (AoA) Is an immersive learning experience that studies human anatomy & physiology in a yoga context Course structure - yoga anatomical study - set over four separate stage or 12 hour Intensives. - specialized intensives include asana & pranayama practice and theorized learning - enables participants to experience and deepen their understanding of the benefits of yoga Commitment to pre- course work - pre-course reading is required - pre-course written work is required - pre- course submissions e.g. series of short answer/multiple choice Q&A are required - pre-course work submissions - week prior to the commencement of each AoA Stage. Sessions will focus on the practical aspects of the anatomical body within asana & pranayama. Who is Anatomy of Asana suitable for? - yoga teachers - keen yoga students wishing to expand their knowledge and immerse themselves in a structured and explorative learning A&P course (anatomy & physiology) AoA will expand and enhance your yoga practice, knowledge and experience. The course will include practice of Sirsasana - headstand & Sarvangasana - shoulderstand free standing or with wall support. Not suitable for the absolute beginner 2 of 8
Anatomy of Asana - Study Time & Delivery Method The AoA Course is a explorative course of study which is based on attendance at four separate Stages or Intensives, Each AoA Stage is 12 hours; held over 3 or 4 days. Note the AoA Calendar on page 7 for details. Participants are encouraged to read & complete preparatory work prior to the commencement of each AoA Stage. - The full 48 hour Anatomy of Asana Course is offered as four separate, 4 day Intensives - 4 Stages scheduled within the year / 12 hours for each Anatomy of Asana Stage Anatomy of Asana Stage One: - Introduction - Terminology - Pelvis - Hips & Legs Anatomy of Asana Stage Two: - Back & Spine - Shoulders & Arms Anatomy of Asana Stage Three: - Head - Neck - Introduction to Physiology Anatomy of Asana Stage Four: - Yoga Physiology - Nervous System - Respiratory System - Blood & Skin Course Material All AoA course content materials are provided. The Workbooks will be mailed upon receiving enrolment and payment verification. Recommended reading list provided. Assessment Assessment is based on completion of associated workbook answers & attendance. At least 90% attendance to each Anatomy of Asana Stage is recommended. - Certificate of Completion is given at end of each AoA Stage. 3 of 8
Attendance Options Anatomy of Asana - Stages 1 to *4 are scheduled over a twelve month period Start in January 2018 to complete the full 48 hour course. Commence Anatomy of Asana Stage 1 in January, then enrol & attend Stages 2 & 3 NOTE re AoA Stage 4: Iyengar Yoga teachers who have had prior completion of the IYA- TTC* requirement of 36 hours Anatomy and Physiology, or health practitioners with A&P prior learning, may enrol solely in Anatomy of Asana Stage 4. (* Iyengar Yoga Association of Australia Teacher Training Course requirement) *Enrolment in AoA Stage 4, requires prior learning, and or completion of AoA Stages 1, 2 & 3 Yoga Jivana reserves the right to change scheduling of future AoA Courses 4 of 8
Fees Each single Anatomy of Asana Course has the following fees: Single 4 Day AoA Intensive - 12 hours: $500 (incl. gst & admin fees) Early-Bird - 12 hours: $450 (incl. gst & admin fees) Early-bird is only available if received PRIOR to due date for enrolment. Policy Enrolments: Accepted when submitted by the due date Anatomy of Asana Yearly Calendar: See page 7 for enrolment closing/due dates. (calendar subject to alteration if unforeseen circumstances arise) - Reimbursements: Available (less $100 admin. plus bank fees) with written request before commencement of any AoA Stage. Reimbursements are not available after the commencement of each individual Anatomy of Asana Stage. - Viability: Anatomy of Asana Stages will commence at the discretion of Yoga Jivana.
