The Spring Holy Days

The Last Passover Of Yahushua Time and Events From the gates of Eden the promise of the Seed of the Woman bruising the Serpent's head, there were people looking for the day when the promise was to be fulfilled. Abel offered his sacrifice - a lamb, Noah did likewise, and Abraham offered sacrifices to Yahueh. To Abraham was given the opportunity to see the day of Yahushua being offered when he was asked to offer up his son Isaac, Gen. 22:1-14. Throughout the nation of Israel the sacrificial system was set up to show that sin called for the life of the sinner. The Exodus - When Yahueh was about to deliver his people Israel from Egypt a lamb was chosen on the IOth day of the month to be a sacrifice or covering for the firstborn (Exd. 12:3-5). This lamb was to be kept until the I4th day of the same month (verse 6) and to be killed in the evening, then the blood was to be applied to the door posts, and that night the lamb was to be eaten in haste with full preparation to leave, clothes and shoes on, and staff in hand (verse 11). The Pharaoh of Egypt rose up that night and called for Moses and Aaron and said, "go!!" (Verse 34). The people of Israel left in a hurry, and that night the firstborn of Egypt died, Israel had eaten the lamb but their dough had not risen for bread. They were ready to go and the Egyptians gave their wealth to them as they went -verses 35,36. They were told not to leave their houses till morning (verse 22) Israel baked unleavened bread because of the haste to travel - verse 39. The record tells us that Israel came out of Egypt on the very day that the time prophesied as spoken to Abraham - verse 40,41. It is a night to be much observed unto Yahueh for bringing Israel out of Egypt - verse 42. We have seen that Yahueh brought Israel out of Egypt by night, [ in that the Passover Angel destroying the firstborn of Eygpt caused the King to order Israel that night to leave Eygpt ] after they had eaten the Passover lamb. The Feasts of Yahueh - LEVITICUS 23 - The Passover. Verse 5, the 14th day of the first month at even is Yahueh's Passover. It starts with the slaying of the lamb, the eating of it after nightfall Verse 6, and on the 15th day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto Yahueh. Exodus 12:15,16 - seven days shall YOU eat unleavened bread, the Ist and 7th are days, set apart, verse 17 the feast of unleavened to be observed "for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of Egypt. It was the morning of the 15th that Israel set out on their way to the land of promise Verse 18. night of 14th day at even until (7 days ) 21 st day at even Feast of Unleavened Bread 1 Last passover by F J STEED

Exd 12, verse 29 - Yahueh smote the first born of Egypt at midnight, verse 12 - I will pass through the Land of Eygpt this night, verse 6 -the lamb killed the evening of the 14th., the blood applied Verse 8 - they shall eat the flesh that night. Now notice verse 12 again - I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, the night the Passover was eaten, the 14th day. Verse 14 - this is a day of memorial, when the lamb was eaten and the Angel passed over the Children of Israel, this is the Passover when at midnight the Angel of death passed over. When did Israel leave Egypt? Numbers 33:3 - Israel left Egypt on the 15th day, on the morrow (or day) after the lamb was killed. v. 3 And they journeyed from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; on the morrow after the passover the children of Israel went out with a high hand in the sight of all the Egyptians, 4 while the Egyptians were burying all their first-born, whom Yahueh had smitten among them: upon their gods also Yahueh executed judgments. Lamb eaten i i first born killed lamb killed at even 14th ^ night Israel left Eygpt in the morning Details of when the lamb was to be killed. Ex. 12:6 "Lamb kept up until the 14th day and killed in the evening" (afternoon). Num. 9:3 "In the 14th day at even" (Hebrew - between the evenings) Num. 28:16 "In the 14th day of the Ist month is Yahueh's passover" Verse 17 "In the 15th day of this month is the feast" Lev. 23:5 - the 14th day of the month at even is Yahueh's passover. This is the starting, killing the lamb. Duet. 16:4-7 - at the going down of the sun. Now let us have a look at Lev. 23.27, speaking of the day of atonement - the IOth day of the seventh month. Verse 32, "in the ninth (9th) day of the month at even, from even unto even shall you celebrate your sabbath" 9th even 10th even Atonement This shows how to measure the day for two of the feasts, the passover and the day of atonement, from the going down of the sun one day until the next. So it says "in the ninth day of the month at even from even until even" concerning the IOth day,as above. Now apply this to the Passover. over the page - 2 Last passover by F J STEED

lamb killed at even ^ 14th Feast Day 15th Compare Lev. 23:5 "14th day of the Ist month at even is Yahueh's passover", and Lev. 23:32 "9th day of the (7th) month at even", concerning the beginning of the IOth day, for keeping the fast, or the feast on the 14th day of the 1st month, these are the only occasions when the days start at even, all others begin at dawn, with the rising of the sun. This gives us a picture of the law of the keeping of the Passover feast - when the lamb was to be killed and when the feast of the lamb was eaten. It was killed in the late afternoon, prepared, roasted and eaten that night after the sun had gone down. Having established the Law of the keeping of the Passover we have a few questions to answer 1. Did Yahushua eat the Passover at the correct time according to the Law? Did he keep the Law? 2. Could Yahushua eat the Passover and die on the cross when the Passover lamb was slain? 3. How did Yahushua meet the Passover type? 4. Was Yahushua crucified on Wednesday or Friday? 5. Did Yahushua rise from the grave Sabbath afternoon or Sunday morning? ANSWER 1. Read Mark 14:12; Matt. 28:17-19; Luke 22:7. These texts show that "on the day the Passover must be killed" Yahushua instructed his disciples to go and prepare the Passover that he might eat it with them "and when even was come", "he sat down with the twelve." It is evident that Yahushua ate the Passover at the correct time. He was the one who came to show us how to keep the Law. ANSWER 2. We have seen that the Passover was prepared at the right time, three witnesses said so. Matt, Mark, and Luke as above.the record says he sat down and ate it with his disciples on the night of the 14th, after it was prepared that 14 day of the Ist month. It was as they sat at this feast that Yahushua set in place the new emblems for the body of the lamb - the bread, being the body, the juice of the grape, being the blood or life. ("Except you eat of my flesh and drink my blood." John 6:53) The record shows that Yahushua did not die at the time the Passover was killed, but that he ate it. 3 Last passover by F J STEED

ANSWER 3. Luke 22: 15. Yahushua "desired to eat this Passover" with his disciples "before he suffered" and did so. It is evident he did not die when the Passover lamb was slain for he had to eat it. The blood of the Passover lamb was a token, applying it demonstrated faith. This faith saved them from the destruction by the angel of death. Yahushua took upon himself our sins, and was numbered with the transgressors - Isa. 53:12; Luke 22:37; Mark 15:28. In the garden of Gethsemane, Yahushua said "The hour is at hand." Previously it had been (John 7:6) "My hour is not yet come." Once Yahushua's hour had come he was given into the hands of sinful men. The "hour" of Yahushua came at the midnight hour on the 14th of Abib after he had eaten the Passover with his disciples. At the very time the Passover angel passed over Israel and destroyed the first born of Egypt - the sinners, Yahushua was given into the hands of sinful men to be destroyed - to die for sin. He gave himself to die for my sin and your sin at that midnight hour. He was put on the cross at the 3rd hour, the time of the morning sacrifice and he died at the 9th hour, the time of the evening sacrifice, fulfilling the type for all sacrifices. Taking the place of the sinner, we being covered by his blood, his life, and saved by his death. ANSWER 4 Was the crucifixion on Wednesday or Friday? The Hebrew calendar of the time shows - 14t 15th Thurs 16th Prep A s we have seen the lamb was slain on the 14th and eaten the same day after dark. Then Yahushua went out to the garden of Gethsemane and at midnight he was taken to be killed (take note of Luke 22:54). First he came before the High Priest from midnight until morning. After day had begun,'as soon as it was day" (Luke 22:66-71) (Approx. 6 am. as it was shortly after the equinox.) Yahushua was brought before the Sanhedrin, the council. Here they sought false witnesses against him to put him to death (Matt. 26:60-66). They found two who said "He would destroy the temple in three days...etc. Then the High Priest asked him "are you the Messiah,? when he told them of his coming in the clouds - they then said they needed no more witnesses. It is evident they had spent time to find witnesses, they did find two after all those that they had who gave them no satisfaction, Matt. 22:66 "He is guilty of death., then they took him to Pilate Luke 23 - Pilate finding that Yahushua was from Galilee sent him to Herod, as Herod was in Jerusalem at the time. Herod was glad to see Yahushua and looked for a miracle. Failing to see any such thing and because of his accusers, Herod set his soldiers to ill-treat him, dressing him in a gorgeous robe and treating him badly. After his failure to achieve his aim, Herod sent Yahushua back to Pilate - Luke 23:15. Then Pilate thinking to satisfy the Jews had Yahushua flogged and the soldiers plaited a crown of thorns and put a purple robe on him and mocked him. Pilate's wife came to him and told him to have nothing to do with this 4 Last passover by F J STEED

Yahushua before him and the time was (John 19:14) "the Preparation" (that is the 6th day of the week, the day before the Sabbath, and it was the Passover week - the Feast of the Passover or Unleavened bread). It was also "about the sixth hour he was before Pilate" for judgment. John is a very good timekeeper, you will note that he tells of the time of various events. The sixth hour could be day or night, either midnight or midday. Yahushua was taken in the garden after eating the Passover, the late part of the 14th day, being taken to the High Priest's house around midnight (about the 6th hour). Then in the Ist hour, or morning, to the Jewish council, the Sanhedrin. Then before Pilate, then before Herod, then back to Pilate again and now it was the "Preparation of the Sabbath" - Friday and "about the 6th hour" or about midnight. One will note that on this same day Yahushua was put on the cross at the 3rd hour (9 a.m.) and died at the 9th hour (3 p.m.) when there was an earthquake after it being dark from the 6th hour (12 noon). NOTE There were 2 timing systems used at that time, see details in attached notes. How do we know that this Preparation is the day before the 7th day Sabbath, not a day before the Ist day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread (15th day)? At the end of the crucifixion day Joseph of Arimathea begged the body of Yahushua and laid it in his own tomb, Luke 23:50-54, "and that day was the preparation and the Sabbath drew on" and verse 56 - the women went home, prepared spices and ointments 'and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment. " Obviously the weekly Sabbath. Note John 19:14 "It was the Preparation of the Passover (week) and about the 6th hour. Verse 42, put in the tomb on the Preparation day. The following day was the Sabbath as we saw in Luke 23. See Luke 24:1 "Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning" the women came to embalm him. Luke 24:13 "That same day" (first day of the week) as two followers were going to Emmaus Yahushua joined them, they said to him (verse 21) "today is the third day since these things were done... Verse 20 'condemned to death and crucified him. The Preparation day - condemned before Pilate, crucified, put in the tomb. On the Sabbath he rested in the grave. The first day of the week he had risen to life and appeared to his followers the third day. Now we see that Yahushua was put in the grave just before sunset on the 6th day of the week (Preparation of the Sabbath). ANSWER 5. Did Yahushua rise from the grave Sabbath afternoon or Sunday morning? John 20:1 "On the first of the week comes Mary Magdalene early when it was dark." Daylight had not yet come. Mary was not permitted to touch Yahushua at the time because he had not yet been to his Father. Later that same day - Verse 19, "Then the same day at evening being the first day of the week" Yahushua appeared to the disciples and breathed on them, etc.luke 24:1 "Now upon the first day of the week very early in the morning" the women came to the sepulchre where they were met by two men in shining garments who said to them, "Saying the Son of man must by delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again." (verse 7). Mark 16:1 "And when the Sabbath was past." After Yahushua rose he appeared first to Mary Magdalene early on the Ist day of the week - Mark 16:9. Matthew 28:1 "In the end of the Sabbath as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to the sepulchre. John, Mark and Luke all show it was morning when Mary came to the sepulchre, Matthew 5 Last passover by F J STEED

tells the same thing. Matthew 28:5-7 The angel who greeted the women told them Yahushua was risen and to go and tell the disciples Yahushua was risen and to meet him in Galilee. Verse 8 - the women ran to tell the news. Verse 9, "And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Yahushua met them saying "All Hail" and they came and held him by the feet." Then Yahushua told them to tell the disciples he would meet them in Galilee. We notice that Luke 24:10 tells us that these Marys came to the sepulchre and in verse 1, it states "as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week", Mark states "and when the Sabbath was past" and "very early in the morning the first day of the week they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun." Now notice that all the evidence says that the Sabbath was past and it was early in the morning on the first day of the week when the women came to the sepulchre Now let us go back to Matthew 28:11 after the women had met Yahushua and had told them to go and tell the disciples - they went to tell "Now when they were going, behold some of the watch (the Roman watch who kept the tomb) came into the city and showed unto the chief priests all the things that are done", then notice the priests told them to say that the disciples came "while they slept" and stole the body. This was the end of the Sabbath in the morning before sunrise, toward the first day of the week for it was while the women were going to tell the disciples, that the guard excitedly ran into the city to tell the news of the resurrection. We notice that there is no mention of those who came to the tomb seeing any of the the Roman Guards there, for as we see they had become afraid by what they saw and had gone to the authorities to tell of the event. It is evident - that Yahushua rose after midnight toward the end of the Sabbath. Being found risen early the first day of the week. This does not in any way make the first day of the week holy,or set apart. Summary of the questions answered Yahushua ate the Passover at the correct time with his disciples on the 14th day of the Ist month -, the lamb having been slain late on the afternoon of the 14th day. Yahushua did not die on the cross on the 14th day of Abib or Nisan, but ate the supper with His followers. Yahushua fulfilled the Passover type by being made sin for us, he being taken at midnight - his hour had come - Yahushua being crucified on Friday, the preparation day, slept in the grave over the Sabbath, the 7th day of the week and rose after midnight on the first day of the week, before sunrise. Note- as the anitypicial wave sheaf he was to be be presented to His father on the first day of the week. This fulfilled the type.see Lev.23:10,11. Yahushua being the first to rise from the dead to assend to Heaven itself, Heb.9:24 but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of Elohim for us: From the time he was taken in the garden until he rose triumphantly, it was three days and three nights. He died on Friday, the preparation of the Sabbath and rose Sunday, the first day of the week - this fulfilled the statement in Luke 24:7 "Saying the Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again." (Psa 16:10 6 Last passover by F J STEED

With reference to the statement in John 2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. 20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? 21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
