Romans 6:1-14 New International Version (NIV) What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace. The Word of the Lord: Thanks be to God! #104 O W o r sh ip Th e K in g O Lord my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty. Psalm 104:1 O worship the King, All glorious above, And gratefully sing His wonderful love: Our Shield and Defender, The Ancient of Days, Pavilioned in splendor, And girded with praise. O tell of His might, And sing of His grace, Whose robe is the light, Whose canopy space. His chariots of wrath, The deep thunderclouds form, And dark is His path On the wings of the storm. Thy bountiful care, what tongue can recite? It breathes in the air; it shines in the light. It streams from the hills; it descends to the plain, And sweetly distills in the dew and the rain. Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail, In Thee do we trust, nor find Thee to fail. Thy mercies how tender, how firm to the end! Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend! All hail to the King! In splendor enthroned; Glad praises we bring, Thy wonders make known. Returning victorious, great conqueror of sin, King Jesus, all glorious, our vic-t ry will win. #478 Have Yo u An y R o o m fo r Jesus? Now is the time of God s favor, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2 Have you any room for Jesus, He who bore your load of sin? As He knocks and asks admission, Sinner, will you let Him in? Room for pleasure, room for business; But for Christ, the Crucified, Not a place that He can enter In the heart for which He died? Room and time now give to Jesus; Soon will pass God s day of grace Soon your heart left cold and silent And your Savior s pleading cease. Refrain: Room for Jesus, King of Glory! Hasten now; His Word obey. Swing the heart s door widely open; Bid Him enter while you may. Text: Adapted by Daniel W. W hittle; Music: C. C. W illiams 1997 by Integrity s Hosanna!
