Worship UNITED in Prayer TONIGHT, 6 pm, Mason Chapel. Join Pastor Tom this month as we direct our prayers toward Asbury Missions and the Worldwide Persecuted Church. Cole Richards, Executive Vice President of The Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) will also be speaking at the prayer service. In this role, he leads VOM s global ministry work, which includes significant outreach both in the U.S. and abroad. VOM ministers internationally by serving, and serving with, Christians who are severely persecuted for their faith. This is accomplished through a multinational team of 51 missions leaders from 22 nationalities, based in 23 countries. VOM accomplishes more than 1,600 projects annually in 68 hostile and restricted nations by responding to persecution and advancing God s eternal Kingdom on the world s most difficult missions frontiers. Richards is also responsible for the book and curriculum ( I Am N ) focusing on the faith and courage of Christians in Iraq and Syria.

This program will expand our partnership with our two adopted elementary schools, Grove Elementary and Walt Whitman Elementary. Please go by the tables TODAY and adopt a teacher s name. You will be given their contact information, favorite things and classroom needs. We would love for each teacher to be adopted, cared for and loved the entire school year. Adopt a Teacher Name: Kaitlyn Hansen Email: hanseka@tulsaschool.org Birthday: June 1 College: Oklahoma State University Favorite drink: Sweet tea Needs List: Contact paper, Construction paper, Treasure Box Items Concert of Thanksgiving Sunday, November 12 6 pm, Sanctuary Asbury s Chancel Choir and New Covenant Orchestra will join New Life Symphony Orchestra for a Concert of Thanksgiving! Tithing: Scripture sets an expectation that God s people will return to Him a portion of what He has graciously provided. God doesn t set this expectation because He needs it, but because we do. Our giving is a personal step of faith that demonstrates belief in God s ability to meet our needs. God uses our tithes and offerings to transform our hearts and provide blessings in return.

Excerpt from the Sermon Journal, Monday, October 30, 2017 Written by Pastor Tom Harrison It is easy to cut ourselves slack while ringing up others. This happens in marriages, families, neighborhoods, work, school and church. In Romans 2, Paul speaks to the religious folks who have been harsh in their condemnation of the immorality of the pagans. We must understand that none of us is righteous because, All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). On the other hand, some of us can flip this around and beat ourselves up. Having either a superiority or an inferiority complex moves the focus from God to us. We must make judgments. Certain things ARE right and certain things ARE wrong (Titus 2:11-15). Sin is to be confronted and rebuked, especially within the church. Wesley did this with the Methodist people. He could be quite direct. Since no one is perfect, grace must always prevail. People (that is, souls) are always more important to God than the rules. Notes:

As a way of becoming one heart and mind and growing together in spiritual maturity, I am challenging all of you to memorize the following verses between now and Easter. Pastor Tom October: 5 Favorites 10/16 Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 10/16 Philippians 4:13 I can do everything through him who gives me strength. 10/23 Psalm 118:24 This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. 10/23 John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 10/30 Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. November: 8 for the Roman Road to Salvation 11/6 Romans 1:16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 11/6 Romans 1:17 For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith. 11/13 Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. 11/13 Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 11/20 Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. 11/20 Romans 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 11/27 Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God this is your spiritual act of worship. 11/27 Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. December: 5 Christian Witness Verses 12/4 Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. 12/11 Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 12/11 Ephesians 2:10 For we are God s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. 12/18 Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. 12/25 Matthew 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Accept the Scripture Memory Challenge and pick up your sheet at the Guest Services Desk Today! Scripture memory is one of the primary ways the Holy Spirit renews our minds and helps us think and act like Jesus. As a way of becoming one heart and mind and growing together in spiritual maturity, I am challenging all of you to memorize the following verses between now and Easter. -Pastor Tom
