EUTHANASIA AND ASSISTED SUICIDE: Submissions Required The End of Life Choice Bill to allow euthanasia and assisted suicide was debated in Parliament before Christmas. Closing date: 20 February, but please act as soon as possible to help protect Life. A Fact Sheet on euthanasia and assisted suicide and a sheet of guidelines on how to make a submission is available from the porch. We also have a submission template and submission suggestions available from the Parish Office. If you wish to make use of these please contact Celia during office hours and they can be emailed out to you. For further information: see www.parliament.nz under Parliamentary Business, then search for the Bill. ST FRANCIS XAVIER ROSTER The roster for the first half of the year has been emailed and those who do not have email can collect their printed copy from the porch. INTERNATIONAL ROSARY Our First Tuesday of the month Rosary commences once again on Tuesday, 6th February, at 7.00 pm at St. Peter Chanel Church in Green Island. Once again we aim to pray the Rosary with 10 different languages as each decade is divided into two and we all reply in English. Anyone who is able to come along and pray 5 Hail Mary s in a different language is very welcome as the only way to keep it truly International is to have a variety of languages available. One of the 15 Promises of Mary to Christians who recite the Rosary is as follows: All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities. After the Rosary Fr. Michael will finish with Benediction.

VOICE FOR LIFE PRAYER GROUP - Fridays 10:45am-11:45am Outside the Dunedin Hospital Main entrance, Great King Street. A gentle witness of our Christian stand for life. JOIN 40 DAYS FOR LIFE THIS LENT Last year, abortion claimed more than 13,000 lives and wounded many more. Since 1974, more than half a million preborn Kiwi babies have been lost. In our communities, this has taken its toll and the wounds of abortion run. 40 Days for Life offers hope with a vision to access God s power through prayer, fasting, and peaceful vigil to end abortion and to offer real support to abortion-vulnerable and wounded women. Nearly 14,000 lives have been saved as a direct result of 40 Days for Life including some here in New Zealand! Every day from Ash Wednesday, 14th February until Palm Sunday, 9th April small groups of volunteers will come together to pray in one-hour shifts outside the main abortion facilities in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Those outside these centres are encouraged to pray and fast for the success of 40 Days for Life, that God will work through their efforts to touch the hearts and minds of those seeking or performing abortions to come to recognise the true dignity of every human being and seek instead the help and support they need to choose life.
