Charlton Francis PRAYER OF COMFORT...Rev. Paul C. Reviere REMARKS:... (3 minutes)... Dr. Roger Williams Deacon Joseph Brown RESOLUTION...Mrs. Mary Hearst SELECTION......Sweet By and By...Mr. Welcome E. Mason ACKNOWLEDGMENTS...Miss Mamie Garnett OBITUARY (Read silently) WORDS OF COMFORT...Rev. Roy Andrews RECESSIONAL INTERMENT...Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery Repast will be in the church fellowship hall.

"Servant of God, well done. Battle fought, Victory won." There are three steps to heaven - out of self; into Christ; into Glory. Wayne J. Hawes took these first two steps in life and lived a beautiful life in Christ. Now he has taken the third step where there is no more weeping, no pain, no disappointment. We feel he is satisfied now and that he is reaping his great reward reserved for the faithful. On Saturday, July 3, 1999, Wayne Hawes passed into Glory. He was born February 22, 1999, to the late Jack and Josephine Dallas Hawes. He led an exemplary life and served his Church, com munity and fellow man with his tireless and unselfish efforts. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, serving as a deacon for 52 years, a Sunday School teacher for over sixty years and served as assistant church clerk.

During his lifetime, he served in numerous capacities, and held a number of positions which include: * Graduated from Washington High School, Washington Ga. * Graduate of Savannah State University. * President, Lincoln County Sunday School Union. * Assistant secretary, Columbia Sunday School Convention. * Charter member, Twilight Improvement, Inc. He offered the name "Twilight" for this association when it was founded. * Co-Founder, CEO and President of Twilight Sewing Plant, Inc. * Life member NAACP, and president of the local chapter for many years. * Social Studies teacher, department chairman, assistant principal and accounts manager for general accounts at West Side High School. He also taught at other elementary schools in the county. * Member, American Legion Post 597. * Veteran of World War II. He was a disabled veteran of the United States Air Corps. * The first Black member of the Lincoln County Board of Education. * Member, Northeast Georgia Leadership Council * An advocate for civil rights and economic opportunities. He leaves to cherish his memory; three sisters; Miss Lillie Hawes, Lincolnton, Georgia, Mrs. Nannie Mae Lewis, Brooklyn, New York, Mrs. Lucy Norman, Brooklyn, New York; devoted niece, Mrs. Lillie H. Blount, devoted nephew-in-law, Mr. Joe Nathan Hawe, devoted great-niece, Mrs. Bobby Jean Barksdale; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Acknowlegments Words are inadequate to express our sincere thanks for all the many kind expressions of love showered on us during the illness and death of our loved one. We pray God s continued blessings on each of you. A Tribute The Family May the work I ve done speak for me May the work I ve done speak for me When I m resting in my grave, there is nothing that can be said May the work I ve done speak for me The work I ve done, it seems so small, Sometimes it seems like, nothing at all, But when I stand before my God, I want to hear Him say, "Well Done", May the work I ve done speak for me. May the life I lived speak for me May the life I lived speak for me When the best I tried to live, my mistakes, He will forgive May the life I lived speak for me.
