by Grant and Jenifer Medford What Who When Wear (Props) Why How Time Here are some amazing stories of Jesus victories over demons. Themes: Spiritual warfare, Demons, Jesus, Good works, Faith, Casting, Belief Narrator 1 Narrator 2 Present 2 Bibles (Preferably similar looking) Luke 8:26-33, Matthew 5: 1-20 Keep the pace quick and make sure the actors are very comfortable with the lines. Play up the humor, but make sure you can bring it back down when the script turns serious. Approximately 6-8 minutes Grant and Jenifer Medford Only original purchaser is granted photocopy permission. Actor 1 addresses the audience. 1: Once upon a time in a land quite a ways from here, lived a man. 2: (Peeks out from behind 1 to the right) How s it going? 1: He was a special man with a special story. 2: (Peeks again to the right) I think you ll like it. 1: This man lived among the dead, nobody wanted him around. Why? Because he was filled with demons with nothing but violence on their minds. 2: (Jumps to the left wildly) Arggg! 1: Lots of demons. 2: (Speaking in different directions) Be quiet! You be quiet! Don t tell me to be quiet! All of you, shut up! 1: (Annoyed) Loud demons. 2: (To 1) We re just getting warmed up. 1: Strong demons. 2: (Poses in muscular fashion and grunts) 1: The demons tormented the man day and night, picking, stabbing, and trying to destroy him. 2: (Drops to his knees and speaking sanely) Please don t! Please don t! (Stands repossessed and triumphant) Forget it! You re done for! 1: One day the man saw Jesus from a distance and ran to meet him. He dropped to his knees, but the demons spoke: 2: What do you want with us, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? 1: The demons knew they were history, finished, about to be eliminated, and they begged for mercy: 2: (Demonically) Please don t! Please don t! 1: But, Jesus spoke with words that could kill: (Turns and points at the man) Forget it! You re done for! 2

Beat 2: (Rises slowly and sanely and begins to take the place of 1 as 1 backs up to stand behind 2) At that moment the demons left me and I became a new vessel. 2: Not too long after that, in another place quite a ways from here, lived a young slave girl. 1: (Sweetly, leaning to the left) Hi! 2: She was a special girl with a special story. 1: (Leaning to the left) It s a really neat story. 2: This girl lived among the rich, everybody wanted her around. Why? Because she was filled with demons who gave her powers to predict the future. 1: (Steps to the right, walking mysteriously and seductively) Hello... 2: Gluttonous demons. 1: I can tell you how to get rich. 2: Power-hungry demons. 1: How about power? I can give you power. 2: Self-seeking demons. 1: You ll be popular, very popular. 2: The demons totally controlled the young girl, never giving her a moments rest. 1: (Drops to her knees and hold the sides of her head, speaking sanely) Save me! Save me! (Stands triumphantly and repossessed) There s no way! 2: One day, the girl saw Paul and Silas from a distance and ran after them. She followed them everywhere, but the demons spoke: 1: These men are servants of the Most High God. 2: The demons knew that salvation for the girl was coming quick and quick was the end of their tormented rule. They begged for mercy: 3

1: (Drops to knees, speaking demonically) Save us! Save us! 2: But, Paul spoke with words that eliminated: Jesus is the only way! 1: At that moment, the demons left me and I became a new vessel. ENDING: 2: (Stepping back to stage left, taking on a more narrative role) If I speak God s Word with power, revealing all His mysteries and making everything plain as day... 1:....and if I give everything I have to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr... 1&2:... but I don t love 2: with God s love in us, 1: the love of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, 2: I am nothing. 1: I ve gotten nowhere. 2: And I ask Him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you ll be able to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ Jesus. 1: God can do anything, you know, far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around, but by working within us, His Spirit deeply and gently within us. 2: Glory to God in the church! 1: Glory to God in the Messiah, in Jesus! 2: Glory through all the generations! 1: Glory forever... 2: and ever! 4

1&2: Amen! Lights out. The end. 5
