Christ the Redeemer C H U R C H First Sunday in Advent December 2nd, 2018 A.D.

God Calls Us to Worship CALL TO WORSHIP from the PSALM OF THE DAY - Psalm 25 In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen! Amen! I was glad when they said unto me, "Let us go into the house of the Lord!" Our feet are standing within your gates, O Jerusalem. (Ps. 122:1-2) To You I lift up my eyes, to the One enthroned in Heaven, Our eyes look to Yahweh our God, till He has mercy upon us! Amen! (Ps. 123:1,2) Processional Hymn: Lift Up Your Heads, pg. 224 The grace and peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you! And also with you! Our Help is in the Name of Yahweh! Maker of Heaven and Earth! God Cleanses Us of Our Sins People of God, this is a trustworthy saying and deserving of full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world save sinners. Therefore submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you. (1 Timothy 1:15; James 4:6-10) 2

Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen. Hymn for Mercy: Franklin Kyrie (Cantate Deo, pg. 65) 3

ABSOLUTION Dear Children of God, Lift up your heads and hear the good news! Almighty God, our heavenly Father, has promised in His Word that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness Therefore, as a Minister of This Gospel, I declare to you the complete and entire forgiveness of all your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Thanks be to God. Our sins are forgiven in Jesus Name! Amen. And now, let us arise and ascend into the heavenly City, into the Presence of Our Great God and Savior, and sing praises unto His Holy Name. O Come let us worship Him. Hallelujah! (Please Stand) Ascension Hymn: Savior of the Nations Come, pg. 225...Amen! COLLECT FOR THE DAY Let us pray together the Collect for the First Sunday in Advent: Almighty God, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness, and put on the armor of light, now in the time of this mortal life in which your Son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility; that in the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge both the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. God Consecrates Us by His Word A voice cries in the wilderness, prepare the way of the Lord! Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain shall be made low! Then the glory of Yahweh will be revealed, And all flesh will see it together. Amen. 4

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. GLORIA PATRI (Lifting up Holy Hands - 1 Tim. 2:8) 5

SERMON TITHES & OFFERINGS Offertory Hymn: O Come, O Come, Emmanuel pg. 227 O Lord our God, maker of all things. Through your goodness you have blessed us with these good gifts. With them we offer up ourselves to you and to your service, and we dedicate our lives to the care and redemption of all that you have made, for the sake of Him who gave Himself for us, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Amen. DOXOLOGY (Lifting up Holy Hands - 1 Tim. 2:8) (Please Stand) PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE (Please Stand)...O Lord, in your mercy, Hear our Prayers. The Lord's Prayer : pg. 411 (Lifting up Holy Hands - 1 Tim. 2:8) Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory. Forever and ever. Amen. 6

God Communes with Us COMMUNION EXHORTATION & THE ANAPHORA The Lord be with you. And with thy Spirit. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up unto the Lord. Let us give thanks unto the Lord our God. It is good and right so to do. It is very good, right, and our bounden duty, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto thee, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God. Because thou didst send thy beloved Son to redeem us from sin and death, and to make us heirs in him of everlasting life; that when he shall come again in power and great triumph to judge the world, we may without shame or fear rejoice to behold his appearing. Therefore with Angels and Archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify thy glorious Name; evermore praising thee, and singing together... SANCTUS (Lifting up Holy Hands - 1 Tim. 2:8) 7

INVITATION TO THE TABLE & PASSING OF THE PEACE "Peace be with you." The peace of Christ be also with you. (Pass the Peace of Christ to those around you, and make reconciliation with those who have an offence against you, or you with them.) Hymn of Peace : Franklin Agnus Dei, (Cantate Deo, pg. 66) 8

WORDS OF INSTITUTION In the night in which He was betrayed, Jesus took bread and gave thanks. Let us pray. Bread: Blessed are you, Lord God, King of the Universe who gives seed to the sower and bread to the eater (Isa. 55:11). Through your goodness we have received this bread, which the earth has given and human hands have made, and through Your surpassing mercy You have given us the bread of life, Blessed be God forever and ever. Amen. Jesus said, "Take, eat, this is my Body which is given for you: Do this as my memorial." The Body of our Lord Jesus Christ, which was broken for you, preserve your body and soul unto everlasting life. Feed on Him in your heart by faith and with thanksgiving, and remember that Christ died for you, and be thankful. Bread Hymn: The Church's One Foundation, pg. 327 In the same manner also, after supper, Jesus took the cup, and gave thanks. Let us Pray. Wine: Blessed are you, Lord God, King of the Universe, who brings forth food from the Earth, and wine which makes the heart of man glad (Psalm 104:14-15). Through your goodness we have received this wine, fruit of the vine and work of human hands, and through Your surpassing mercy You have given us the blood of your Son, Blessed be God forever and ever. Amen. Jesus said, "Drink of it, all of you; for this is the blood of the New Covenant which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you shall drink it, as my memorial." 9

The Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, which was shed for you, preserve your body and soul unto everlasting life. Drink this and remember that Christ's blood was shed for you, and be thankful. Wine Hymn: Of the Father's Love Begotten, pg. 246 PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING Almighty God, we most heartily thank Thee for giving us the True Bread of Life that came down from heaven, even Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord: Grant that we, who have received this sacrament of His Body and Blood, may abide in Him, and He is us, that we may be filled with the power of His Eternal life, and serve Him with gladness and thanksgiving forever and ever. Amen. Amen. Celebration Hymn: Only Begotten, Word of God Eternal pg. 216...Amen! God Commissions Us BENEDICTION & COMMISSIONING (Please Stand) The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up the light of His countenance on You and give you peace. And the Blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, rest upon you now, and remain with you forever, and ever. Amen. Amen. Jesus said "Go in to all the world and preach the Gospel to the whole Creation." The Earth shall be filled with the Glory of LORD. Thanks be to God. May I Come to the Lord s Table? The Lord s Supper is observed weekly here at Christ the Redeemer Church. We warmly invite to the Lord s Table all baptized disciples of Jesus Christ, and their baptized children, who are under the authority of Christ and His Church. By eating the bread and drinking the wine with us as a visitor, you are acknowledging that you are a sinner, without hope except in the sovereign mercy of God, and that you are trusting in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. If you have any doubt about your participation in communion, please feel free to speak to the Pastor before or after the service. Upcoming Events & Opportunities PRAYER REQUESTS About Christ the Redeemer Church Christ the Redeemer Church is a community of Christian believers striving together to faithfully live out our covenant relationship with our Triune God. We proclaim the gospel message that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that salvation is by faith in Him alone. We desire to see lives transformed through worship and discipleship. Christ the Redeemer Church is a member congregation in the Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches (CREC).
