EPHESIANS 6:1-9 LESSON #21

15 Be very careful, then, how you live not as unwise but as wise, Ephesians 5:14

be filled with the Spirit, Ephesians 5:16

Outline 1. Christ Centered Families Eph. 6:1-4 2. Christ Centered Workplaces Eph. 6:5-9

Focusing on Christ and being filled with the Holy Spirit brings harmony to our most vital relationships. KEY TRUTH

Christ Centered Families Ephesians 6:1-4

6 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 Honor your father and mother which is the first commandment with a promise 3 so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth. Ephesians 6:1-3

14 Jesus said, Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. Matthew 19:14

It was a radical change from the callous cruelty which prevailed in the Roman Empire, in which unwanted babies were abandoned, weak and deformed ones were killed, and even healthy children were regarded by many as a partial nuisance because they inhibited sexual promiscuity and complicated easy divorce.

6 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Ephesians 6:1

2 Honor your father and mother which is the first commandment with a promise Ephesians 6:2

- 3 so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth. Ephesians 6:3

4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4

Your children are watching you! TRUTH

Christ Centered Workplaces Ephesians 6:5-9

They did not merely do menial work; they did nearly all the work, including oversight and management and most professions. Some slaves were more educated than their owners. They could own property, even slaves, and were allowed to save money to buy freedom. No slave class existed, for slaves were present in all but the highest economic and social strata. Many gained freedom by age 30.

5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. 6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Ephesians 6:5-6

7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, 8 because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free. Ephesians 6:7-8

Vs. 5 - As to Christ Vs. 6 - As slaves of Christ Vs. 7 - As to the Lord Vs. 8 - Receive this back from the Lord
